The biggest variable in how much water is caught from the condensation created by the aluminum catch can is affected by the mounting location as well. Mounting the catch can in a location closer to the exhaust will reduce the amount of condensation by keeping the can hot enough to evaporate all the extra water during the cold winter months. This is very common and many of you can reduce the water collected by mounting the catch can closer to the headers. You don't have to have the biggest system offered just a mounting location that will create enough heat to evaporate the water that builds up in the catch can system. The mounting location and internal design of the catch can is the most important aspect of the system's overall performance in hot or cold weather.

Here is another option designed for the most extreme conditions and it's a simple bolt-on.

It is a two sided coin. Having catch can away from engine heat helps with oil collection in the can by allowing droplets to form on cooler sides, but that also will mean more moisture vapor collection. The closer to heat, less moisture but also oil vapors not as likely to bound into droplets that get collected. Take your pick which way to go. I keep the can on my 2500 in the spare battery area on the fender. On my Cadillac, just behind radiator on passenger side of engine compartment.

The design we have for the internal chamber and multiple stages with 4 different coalescing filters does let all the small droplets through in mist or vapor form like other catch cans do when mounted closer to the engine. It's taken a few years to develop a system that was as strong as a performer when mounted next to the engine and or headers. I will attach a quick image of the Patented internal design. I get this reply a lot as our design is so new to the industry. The biggest variable is the micron count on the filters at each stage to work in a series. Just wanted to share that to show you how different the UPR Catch Can Internals have been Engineered.

Here is a quick link to photos of our kit installed both the 5.3L and 6.2L engines. http://s1380.photobucket.com/user/catchcanstore/slideshow/

BTW, what Cadillac do you have? Just curious.

How do you like the CTS, I was thinking of getting 3.6L TT CTS for my son to get him in a 4dr instead of his Camaro.

I have never really liked very many cars over the years. The wife spotted this one and wanted it, so we got it. I actually like this little gem. A real pleasure to drive. Plan on keeping it for a long time.

Heck, I thought I just bought a can with steel wool in it? One day I will take the 300.00 Elite Catch can off my truck and cut it in half and look at it and surely be amazed! Oh, well... maybe someday!

Not sure why you would pay $300 for an Elite can. My Elite E2 was $179 delivered. No need to cut it open, totally disassembles in less than a minute. 4 chambers also.

Here is what we offer for the UPR Dual Valve Catch Can without a Clean Side Separator so you still get the benefits of the WOT = Wide Open Throttle Evacuation and the complete braided line package with OEM UPR Plug n Play™ Fittings and UPR Billet check valves. This is the cleanest and best-engineered setup to install that all the dealerships we deal with love them and many install them as well for their customers.

My bad. I just read Elite E2-x, not the clean side part. And it didn't dawn on me to ask if the clean side unit was bought also. I never saw a good need for on any of my stuff. I don't do WOT events. This below is the post I saw. There was no mention of clean side in the post. So yes, it would be easy to be confused.
