Bad Traction

Have you approached your dealer about having the TPMS pressure lowered? My dealer did this for me, fronts and rears to 50psi and 55psi seems to be my sweet spot.

Siping will typically not void the tire manufacturers warranty. I've done my own by hand, typically after they have some wear when the OE siping has disappeared. I've had very good luck with every tire I've siped, wet traction is increased and hard pack snow traction is increased.

I aired mine down the minute I got home. I like 50 front and 50 real. It causes the light and the warnings but I just dismiss them. The ride is very good and after 11,000 miles I see no wear that is out of the ordinary. In this picture the fronts are 12 and the rears are 10.

just frequent tire rotations, maybe every 10,000 mils +- ... or you'll find the front get excessive wear on the outside edge tread

I run 45-50 front & 50-55 rear with no dash warning (varies with outside temp / season), and have 300 lbs in my bed year round for work and a much better ride

I get 70,000 - 80,000 miles out of the stock Michelin's (04, 11, and now my 15)

I snow plow my driveway with them without issue, definitely not good for commercial plowing

My dealer had no issues w/ reprogramming the TPMS to 55.

Some won't siting safety concerns...my dealer had no issues, but my coworker was refused by a different dealer.

That's one of the two or three things that I will make contigent on the dealer completing before the purchase of a new vehicle...either do it, or I go elsewhere.

Good information, thanks guys.

I looked at the siping of the tires, but that voids the warranty, and at this point I would not want to do that. I'm guessing winter tires will be on the agenda before next winter.

Winter rims too.

Then you don't have to pay for tire demount and mount every season.

Some dealers will have 'take-off' rims available if you prefer a OEM look.

Don't forget that you'll likely want sensors on the winter set.

My last winter on all seasons was 15 years ago! Since then I've always switched over to winter rims and tires. It makes such a difference for traction, handling and added safety. I run lower pressures as well and added a little extra weight in the bed to improve traction and ride. Current tires are Cooper Discoverer AT/W in LT275/70R18's. They perform extremely well in everything that winter driving can throw at ya and they are e-rated! They are not super aggressive but have plenty of sipps to keep you on the road!
