Leveling question

So I am thinking about leaving my Sierra. It would be the first ruck I've done this to. So my questions are...

- let the dealership do it for $475 ?

- how is the ride afterwards ?

- what kits do you prefer?

- anyone care to share their pics.

Thanks!

I have a quote from my selling dealer (GMC) of $120 + alignment and a quote from a much closer Chevy dealer of just a little more for both lift and alignment - $210. The Chevy guys said it was a Rough Country 2" kit to level my Z71. No idea what brand the other was, but both are pretty simple from what I understand.

I've not done it yet but still pondering. I'd actually prefer 1.5" but that's not common. And I don't have a real reason...

I went with the Moto-Fab 1.5 inch lift also for about $40 . Very simple to install. Had my brother-in-law help me since he had more experience with suspension work. Drove to Firestone afterwards for an "Lifetime Alignment" (will check and realign anytime I want it done) for $180. Not bad considering I have my alignment checked and adjusted twice a year to get the max life out of my tires and I will keep the truck about 5-8 years.

Total in about $220.

I went with ready lift 1.5 upper spacer on my 15. Very happy with it. Did a RC 2 lower on my 13 and it always looked a hair too high to me. Very easy to install if you have the correct tools and smarts. Helps to have an extra set of hands. Took maybe two hours start to finish plus the alignmet after. Ride is barely noticebly stiffer and mine feels back to stock with 1 size larger P rated tire. If you are capable of changing out the front shocks you are capable of a level kit.

OldBlue61 - You install?

Yes, I installed it myself. Drivers side took a little over an hour, the other about 30-40 minutes once I had the experience with the first side. Not hard, just take your time and make sure you do it right.

I got a 2.5" Rough Country leveling kit. A buddy and I installed it. Like OldBlue said, it took a little over an hour to do the passenger side but then about 35 minutes for drivers side, plus about 30 minutes to install the blocks in the rear. Wasn't a bad install at all if you are somewhat mechanical with the right tools.

I got a cost estimation of about $475 also from a shop as they just went by the 3-4 hours time frame that RC has posted on their website

This is mine, but I am also going to switch out the rear 2" blocks and put 3" blocks and a set of Hellwig 987's to add the rake back for when I'm towing a trailer.

Good luck on your decision.
