What is capacity of UPR can and how does it compare to the Elite e2x? Does UPR work as efficiently as e2x, i.e. does it remove as much oil/contaminants? How much room to work with below drain - can you get a water bottle under there? I very much like the plug/play aspect but it needs to perform as well as Elite.

The only way to be sure is to get one of each and do a comparison on your own vehicle.

When you're satisfied, sell the one you aren't as happy with, preferably on another forum.

I’m trying to avoid that. The whole point of my search here is to make the right decision on the first try. It’s not like Consumer Reports covers these things.

Also --- does the location of the can and/or css cap and/or lines get in the way of being able to easily remove the cap on the valve cover and pour in oil?

I guess the rest of us kinda decide as we go.

Left over stuff is just a way of life.

I'd pick the Elite and go ahead.

And save some bucks.

Here are the differences that set our kits apart from the rest.

The complexity and build quality of other catch cans are where the main difference in price with UPR Catch Cans, and you get what you pay for. I know the UPR is more and the build quality along with many factors such as Inst-Grip Braided Hose, UPR Plug and Play™ Fittings, Multi-Stage Internal Diffuser System with Diffuser Shield and Multiple Coalescing Screen throughout. We don't stuff our cans with generic stainless steel media or steel wool. All our Coalescing Screens are designed specifically to each UPR Catch Can application.

If you're OK with an aftermarket non-factory look with rubber hoses and clamps, then any brand system will work to save a few bucks. If you want an Incredible Performer that has an OEM look that will even confuse a dealer if it's factory or not, then UPR is the choice. Something to think about that never gets addressed is the flow of the Catch Can, Check valves, and Hose Quality will determine how strong the vacuum is that scavenges your crankcase and helps seal the rings. Many hoses when they get hot will collapse or shrink without any visual signs and restrict the vacuum from the intake and reduce the scavenging effect to the crankcase. These variables affect MPG and Overall Performance as well as the oil that is eliminated from entering the intake tract through the PCV system.

Important Note: we eliminated rubber hoses a long time ago for the same reason everyone keeps mentioning with collapsing and failures etc. No customers should ever have to encounter those issues. Our braided hoses do not collapse or fail and you'll never be frustrated because of the performance or quality our hoses deliver. Braided Hose is standard with our kit not an upgrade or option as we want to deliver the best from the start. It's nice to have a system that does not require a screwdriver to tighten clamps or worry about them coming loose or having hoses pop off.

UPR put all the very best parts together for a package price for the GM-Trucks members for vehicles without CAI and with CAI and a UPR Catch Can. I prefer to deliver a system that fits and exceeds the build quality of OEM standards and does not look aftermarket or out of place.

PM me if you have any questions.

Thank you, Joe

What is capacity of UPR can and how does it compare to the Elite e2x? The UPR is a 14oz. can and the UPR is the first catch can designed specifically to be used in the heat to be able to eliminate all the condensation and moisture that builds up in the catch can reducing the problem with having to drain water from the catch can all the time.

Does UPR work as efficiently as e2x, i.e. does it remove as much oil/contaminants? Yes, it does and work as efficiently and capture all the oil and contaminants that come through the PCV.

How much room to work with below drain - can you get a water bottle under there? The drain can have a bottle put under it or you can get a fitting and hose and drain it to a pan under the truck which is easier.

Does the location of the can and/or css cap and/or lines get in the way of being able to easily remove the cap on the valve cover and pour in oil? No the CSS can easily be unscrewed and you can pour oil in without any problem.

Yes, thanks.

I was close to being sold (still am) on the e2x until I ran into yours. Now debating. The Elite has a larger capacity and can be installed where it's easier to get at. UPR has those nice hoses and connections.

Decisions, decisions.

Don't over think this. They both do exactly the same thing. I installed my E2 at the brake booster and it sits close enough to the exhaust manifold to get it hot enough to evaporate the condensation that it collects so it won't fill up too quickly.

Mounting location is critical to having an efficient system that is not a condensation machine and the oil comes out black with some fuel in it. It's the proper function of the catch can system and it does not require a large capacity to capture oil and unburnt fuel. We offer 4" MEGA catch can and I do not recommend them on any normally aspirated engine as they are just overkill. Thank you for chiming in " 17 Sierra " it's nice to be on a positive forum where everyone shares info.
