RyanbabZ71 Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tm...._deaths Very windy in the part of the country. Gusts up to 60 mph. Had wind advisorys all day I was watching the news and one lady being extracated from the car had a chunk of her leg missing. Pretty gruesome
firecadet613 Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 There were gusts at my house (half hour north of Chicago) of about 50mph all day long yesterday. I left work early and put my truck in the garage, it stayed there all night! You'd be amazed how many flying branches and such I saw. Joe
chevy4x4trucks Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 I saw that on the news yesterday. Where the high winds knocked the scoffolding off the side of the john hancock building. It looked pretty bad.
antig24 Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 Wow, thats pretty windy, it was really windy at my house yesterday too.
siume99 Posted March 10, 2002 Posted March 10, 2002 windy here too (central IL). I saw tops of trees that broke off and "shifted" into surrounding trees (they'll have fun getting those down). They didn't "fall" into them. I saw a stop sign tipped over (It was stuck in the ground!) I loved my RainX Saturday morning on my way into work! We got pelted with rain.
chevy4x4trucks Posted March 11, 2002 Posted March 11, 2002 Friday night it was really foggy out around here, I'm talking, can't see 20' in front of you and can hardly see oncoming traffic. So, I'm driving down a back road following an old body style suburban, not too closely, all of the sudden *Zoom* this kid in VW flies by me (two lane road) and then gets back into the correct lane and rides the suburban's derriere. Knowing how annoying that is I floored it and got right on his behind w/ my headlights blasting in his interior. He must've thought my brights were on because he's moving his rearview trying to shine it back at me and misses terribly. So then his g/f tries and gives up, they continue to drive and eventually he darts out into traffic again passing three cars and nearly getting hit by oncoming traffic. I think the guy in the oncoming traffic had to lock them up and probably changed his shorts when he got home. How can you be so stupid in those kinds of conditions? If he had just passed me up and there weren't a bunch of cars in front of me that kid would've been blinded by my low beams, high beams, & 100 watt lights.
RyanbabZ71 Posted March 11, 2002 Author Posted March 11, 2002 just say it man People are freaking stupid All these people on the news why did this happen. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to tell you the winds were at fault From friday to saturday early after the temps changed by about 50 degrees
CMNTMXR81 Posted March 11, 2002 Posted March 11, 2002 This weather is f*cking insane. Saturday morning it was windy as all ####, but it was like 55 degrees out. So I'm out in shorts. This was about 9am. By the time it was 10:30am the wind had gotten stronger and it was near blizzard like outside with snow falling! ??? It was now like 28 degrees! WTF!!! DuPage airport which is part of my suburb clocked 58mph winds. I can see the boarded up windows on the Hancock here from my office. What pisses me off is all these people screaming "why??" "Why was this scaffolding out there?" Well stupid, it got blown off the f*cking roof!!! They DIDN'T have it out. It was resting peacefully up on top and coupled with 60mph winds, evidently something let loose and then it was man overboard!!! Then they started pissing and moaning about the people trying to secure it Saturday night and why they left it hanging. Well Jesus H. Christ, there were still 40+mph winds out there, what the h3ll did you want them to do? Jesus, some people are beyond comprehension!!! You can never please them!
