AC Delco 4-1 touch up paint bottle questions

Has anyone used these touch up paint bottles. It says they have both the base and the clear coat 0.25 oz of each. Are there two separate parts to the bottle, one containing base paint and the other clear? Looking to fix a couple of small chips. Thanks.

I bought one, but sorta scared to try it out on my truck. Not sure if it will look better or worse...I'm interested to see if anyone has done this as well. Would love to see before and after pictures.

Edit: It does have both color and clear in the tube. One on each end. Has a smoothing/sanding tip also.

In the same boat here, curious also. bought one and haven't used it yet. Figured I would wait till spring to try it, probably would work better once the temps warm up and I can give my truck a good cleaning beforehand. I'm thinking may have to build the paint up a little somehow for any really deep scratches or chips. Would probably look worse if you don't.

I have one. Color and clear in opposite ends. Color matched well for me, but I have Summit White so not a tough match. Key is to build layers of paint to get close to surrounding paint depth then clear. Looked ok, until I got tired of all the chips and put a clear bra on. When the sun hits it just right, the bra is like a magnifying glass. Still looks better than not touching up before the bra. Should have gotten the bra earlier.

It has both on two ends. And two different applications tips. Best way is to apply and start building and once it overlaps with the original paint hit it with a clay bar to take any excess off and then clear it.

The applicator tips on those bottles are usually pretty bad. I recommend using small brushes or have even seen the end of a toothpick used.

If you already bought the GM touch-up paint then it's too late for this but Dr. Colorchip is actually pretty amazing stuff. I never thought it would work but have been using it for over a year on my Rainforest Green Silverado and it does a great job!

Honestly as a detailer, the best and easiest to use is doctor color chip. I would not use the paint pens and definitely not the two step ones with the color and clear. Dr Colorchip will be a better and easier result for you

What is Doctor color chip and where do you find It?

Just google it dude. It matches your exact paint code so find out your paint code and then you could more than likely find it on Amazon. Also check it out on YouTube so you get a warm and fuzzy about it instead of just goin hot with it lol. Don't get the base kit get the next step up one.

I have one for my truck. I had a tiny rock chip above my rear wheel well. It turned out ok; it's obviously not perfect but it's still better than the chip mark. One issue I had was when I went to the GM Dealership to get this and told them my truck colour (Tungsten Metallic) they gave me the wrong colour (black). Didn't realize it until I had put it on my truck but luckily was able to wipe it off quickly.

I recommend the "Silver" package since it's on sale and costs less than the lower packages.

You can also get it at Amazon, etc.

It costs more than the paint pens and works differently. You actually smear this stuff on and walk away from it for around 20 minutes. It looks like crap during that time but when you come back and rub the excess off with the cleaner it comes out pretty good.

Like Abearclaw said don't get the base kit. Or if you do at least buy one of the small squeegee applicators and some additional microbrushes. It's not perfect but for me it did a better job than the touch-up paint that ends up leaving a "bubble"!
