Leer Trilogy Tonneau Cover Problem - Do Not Buy!

Hello all.

I would like to tell you my problems with the Leer Trilogy tri-fold tonneau cover and hopefully save you the trouble. This is entirely cosmetic, but I wish I would have spent my $900ish elsewhere.

I bought my first Leer trilogy about a year and a half ago. It worked perfectly, except I started noticing dents across the top of it. Small, almost looked like hail damage, but the truck doesn't sit outside at home or at work. I thought it was possible I was doing something to the cover, but I hadn't removed it and anything I placed on it was only near the tailgate.

Then more and more dents showed up, more than 15 or so. For no reason I could think of...? I was positive I didn't remove the cover or place anything on it. And my roof hadn't fallen down onto the truck in the garage!

I contacted my dealer and Leer replaced my cover about 6 months ago.

The same thing is happening with this new one! I was told that it is possible the material inside the cover compresses in colder weather which creates small dents across the top of it to compensate for the space inside the cover that has compressed.

In these pictures, you see some small dents, and more are showing up ever day and over the course of the life of the cover, I expect it to look like hail damage.

This isn't a huge deal as it seems entirely cosmetic, but it bothers me. I expect it would bother some of you as well.

Leer told me they will not replace it again, they offered me $100 to keep it. I would go with another brand!

I think most of the hard folding covers are made of the same or similar materials for the most part. Balance of strength and weight for folding

This is interesting. My G2 I had on my previous truck had dents just like this...just figured it was hail damage or I (or my kids) did something that I didn't remember.

My Bak F1 has been through two hail storms, I have ZERO dents. I out it on new in 2012, other than its heavy; it's solid.

I have the Gator FX3 Tonneau Cover. Almost 2 years. Only thing I hate it that the paint is fading so fast.

My older Bak-flip it was called the HD back 8 years ago when I bought it, did go through a hail storm and it is dented like crazy, but before then I had it 4 years and no dents like you have shown from normal use.

Now that I have a new Bak-Flip F1 I will be paying close attention to this, thanks for the notification.

Anybody with the extang solid fold 2.0 have any problems?

Have a friend that has the Extang Solid Fold 2.0 and his has dents just like you pictured.

I have a Leer Trilogy for almost 18 months now and it is in the weather year round, has no dents and I even set things on it all the time.
