lol, that's just a nic, a ding barely a scratch. They'll have that looking like new in no time. You should have seen mine, it was hit so hard it broke the float in the fuel sending unit, my box was bent up almost 90 degrees. Piece of cake when somebody knows what he's doing. Don't worry about that little bruise. Look at mine now, I think it's better than factory.

I just talk to insurance company and they told me that they don't do diminished value. That's how ICBC works. Also they inform me that less than $2000 damage won't show on the record but mine is surely go over $2000.

I'm in Vancouver as well. ICBC is a joke when it comes to this stuff unfortunately. I would take it to a Dealership body shop to ensure OEM parts. Good luck! It'll be good as new before you know it

I also live in the Lower Mainland and when it comes to ICBC they will only guarantee OEM parts if you have replacement cost insurance through them or through a third party company such as Aviva. If you do not they will put other jobber (used) Parts in or aftermarket parts and you have no say

FYI on Diminished Value claims, all insurance companies will say they don't pay for DV claims. It is not up to them, it is up to what that laws of your state or providence say that a person is allowed to do. If you laws state you can file for DV claim then I would file for it.

Get the insurance check for the highest estimate you can get then drive to a Chevy/GMC dealership that has its own body shop.

 

Walk into the showroom and make a deal on a similarly equipped '17(or '16 leftover) offering your damaged vehicle in trade in excellent condition (since of course that is the way they will presumably fix it) minus their costs for repair. Considering current heavy discounts, the trade estimate plus value of the insurance check plus the differential in moving up to a new vehicle might be feasible for just a few more bucks.......and you don't have to wait for repairs or future worry about appearance, diminished value or durability of the repair.

 

Showroom manager will deal with the body shop and determine worth after the insurance repair. Did it for my wife's smacked up Trailblazer and made a heckuva deal on a new Tahoe. Process is feasible especially for a newer vehicle since the dealership can always eat a large portion of the labor estimate, markup of the OEM repair parts and screw with the insurance company for extra bucks if it is their own repair shop.

I don't think you will have to worry much about dim. value as that damage is only cosmetic from the looks of things, nothing structurally that will need fixing so that is good news imo. Couple new piece and it will look like new, just pick a good shop to do the work is my only advice.

That is only true when working with your own insurance, when you are filing on the other customers insurance you don't have to take used/generic parts as you are not bound to them on their policy guidelines.

First off we live in Canada not the USA. If you do not have replacement cost insurance in BC ICBC will not approve GM parts doesn't matter if somebody else hit you you must have replacement cost insurance.

When I got rear-ended in my 2014 GMC Sierra 1500 in February of 2015 I had $8,000 damage I talk to the lawyer doing my claim and he said we can't go after diminished value here in Canada

I thought about trade in after repair is done but no...I can't afford it.
