GMC bed cover question

I have a GMC accessory gift certificate coming in the mail. I'm focused on two different bed covers but unsure of which one to go with. Im hoping the ones that have these covers will chime in. The two Im looking at are the retractable and rollup w/ aluminum slats.

If you have one of these would please let me know what you think about it, maybe some pros and cons. Some of my concerns are how well it fits, security, the amount of bed space lost and last, looks.

If you have the retractable one, how big is the storage cabinet?

Its going on a CCw/ short box. Thank in advance for any input that you can provide.

I don't have either of these; I opted for a trifold BakFlip cover. I feel there's more to go wrong with the retractible one; like if dirt and stuff got built up in the channels it would jam up or not retract properly. That being said, I think it looks better than the roll up ones.

I agree, have the backflip MX4, it allows you to open and close the tailgate with the cover down. Sealing seems fairly tight, cleans up well and is very low profile. Took about 30min to install which also means I could pop it off easily if needed. Ive hauled a couch and a couple loads to the dump no problems. The design still allows for full use of the bed without the space needed for a roll up.

I know you said you had the GM card, but i'd use that for something else and go with the backflip.

I would not go for the Roll-X or any bak product. I have had horrendous experiences with both the Roll-X and the F1. They are great designs but the quality and workmanship is lacking.

IF you decided you really wanted on I would buy it from the dealer or locally so warranty issues are easier to deal with.

I think I would go with the GM version of the G4 elite made by fold a cover.

One con I read about the alum slated roll ups was in winter the locking mechanism down each side of the rail can freeze and lock the cover from rolling/unrolling.

I have the first one, but mine is branded as a truxedo titanium. The aluminum rollup is outstanding
