Trailer suggestions

Can anyone offer input or advice on what size trailer I should buy to fit 3 quads? They are a 450 and two 250"s. Also I have a 2017 Sierra all terrain.

Go to lowes or tractor supply and look and the landscape trailers with a side loading gate, best option if you are looking to haul ATV's

That's a reasonably good recommendation. Be sure that you get something that will provide adequate tie-down points as well. The side ramp (in addition to a back ramp) offers easier loading and unloading, especially if you load them "sideways".

Some of the trailers have round piping around the perimeter, some are basic angle iron. And some side barriers are taller than others. Look at Lowe's, Tractor Supply, Home Depot, and even some local trailer shops. Once you have an idea of what you want, you can also look around for a used one from one of the "bigger" trailer manufacturers as they tend to be built a bit more solidly. Big Tex is one that comes to mind that makes a really solid landscape trailer.

My only suggestion is a follow on to these previous posts...if you intend only to haul ATVs and such, stick with a landscape trailer as they are typically lighter...if you intend to haul a car or anything else heavy, look at equipment trailers as they are typically heavier built but also heavier in weight.

Side by side, my father has an 18ft landscape trailer and I have an 18ft equipment trailer...his weighs a little under 1300#, mine weighs 2450# with the ramps.

If you don't need the heavier trailer, no sense hauling that extra weight around.

Thanks for the responses guys. I'll probably go with the lighter style landscape trailer. What would be the best size to fit the three atvs?

Take measurements and make sure whatever size you get you can just drive them all up without having to lift them to turn them sideways, it gets old! You will want one that's at least 7 feet wide

I have a 16' flat deck trailer, if I turn all the quads sideways I can squeeze about 4 on there. I normally load 3 (2 sideways, 1 in the middle just drive it on) but these are also large CC bikes (750cc or more) which typically means a wider bike. I would say length wise you'll want something at least 12' long, if not longer.

I wanna keep this trailer but I'll end up getting a gooseneck here in the next few years. Got a SxS in the family now, and I may end up getting one too lol

I'd personally not buy anything under 16ft...gives you room to grow.

I will also say this, stay away from 102" wide trailers unless you are very comfortable towing trailers. My 18ft is a 102" wide, and it never ceases to amaze me how much that 6 inches makes trailering that much more difficult versus a 96" wide. My 24ft 96" wide RV is a lot more relaxing to tow than my 18ft 102" wide flatbed.

I second the motion of buying longer versus shorter - keep in mind that the longer trailers are also easier to back up!!!!

And I also agree that towing a 102" trailer is a little more "nerve wracking" than 96" wide trailers, especially if you're towing on side / back roads.

I would look at a Big Tex for hauling 3 quads. There good quality trailer, haul my 2- 750 cc bikes end to end. I wont hurt myself turning them sideways. As the other guys said you need to line them up get you a good measurement and maybe room to grow to bigger bike. I would recommend a trailer with full size tires like 15'' for hauling 3 quads. I guess im not a fan of those little thin tires i see on small trailers. Get out look at some local trailer builders and crawl underneath look at the wiring for the lights make sure its done properly.

Don't overlook any dedicated trailer sales places. They usually have a wide variety of trailers for just about anything and they can even order something that meets closer to your needs. Lots of good brands to choose from, and they each have little design features that the others don't.

Fully agree. If nothing else, you might at least find some things you DON'T like and learn more about what to stay away from.

You could also grab a bunch of 2x4's and lay out a possible trailer size then try parking the quads without moving the boards. If it works out well, you've got a good size / layout.

Other than most times they are heavy, if I was to do it again I would buy a deck-over axle for the ease of loading and extra width...
