Looking for an Intake system

I am curious on which one should i get.. i want to know mostly about aFe momentum intake and afe magnum.. how loud are they? Do they sound like a whistle or a roar like k&n 77??

I couldnt find a sound test on youtube so tell me guys..

I've got an AFE momentum 2 with a dry filter and really like it.

These will not improve your milage or horsepower numbers. My mileage hasn't probably got worse at first because of the sound and the like of the go fast pedal. Throttle response may have improved a slight bit but it's more about the sound/look. There's no whistle at all from this system and some people have actually sold them for being too loud. With the design, it draws in from two locations (the front and from inside the fender) through a filter that looks like it should be on a duramax - but then again, that's what AFE is known for. It does come with a baffle plug for the front of the sealed box that will quiet the intake down by I say 50% and it will only draw air from the fender.

Build quality was awesome and talking with AFE customer service was really good too. I would recommend it.

BlackBear just did an in depth dyno session with 6-7 CAI intake, the AFE, Airaid and Volant all show around or over 20rwhp gains on a stock truck with no tuning to get them to work and no tuning really needed. I have the Airaid CAI on my 2016 6.2l, power is up and so is my fuel mileage. Then again I don't drive around like a race car driver all the time either.

I just ordered the K&N 63 series for my 15 Silverado with the 4.3, I will let you know how loud it is when I get it and put it on. There's not a whole lot available for us 4.3 guys. Next truck will be the 6.2. The air conditioner bogs the V6 down for crying out loud.

Have an AFE momentum GT on my 5.3, it's definitely louder than stock but not obnoxious. IIRC, the AFE was one of the only intakes that didn't necessitate tuning to address the knock retard, and it also made the best power over stock.

once again, people putting out wrong info that has been shown to be wrong. BlackBear just did an in depth dyno session with 6-7 CAI intake, the AFE, Airaid and Volant all show around or over 20rwhp gains on a stock truck with no tuning to get them to work and no tuning really needed. I have the Airaid CAI on my 2016 6.2l, power is up and so is my fuel mileage. Then again I don't drive around like a race car driver all the time either.

How am I putting out the wrong information when I have the intake he's asking about? He wanted a first hand review of a product and that's what I gave him. I'm not going to over inflate the numbers so that I can justify spending the money I spent on intake.

You said to not expect any gains from the intakes. Those were your words that you posted. I am just saying that is not accurate, more so after BB just posted a very in depth dyno review of several CAI systems. The time they put into that review is better than any other previous dyno test out there since most shops wont go through the hassle since it means they have to order the kits in and test them and then sit on a used kit that no one will be if it is on the lower end of gains unless they dang near give them away.

Just one of those things, for the last 5-10 years all you hear is the regurgitated "CAI don't do anything other than make your wallet lighter" comments and if people did take the time to do before and after test those same people always said it's not reputable and they pull hot air and blah, blah, blah. That's not the case, every system I have used has always shown a gain on the dyno with no tuning.

I did a back to back test of 3 intakes on my 2008 Corvette and all I got was that either the test was rigged or I was lying as they was no way GM left that kind of power on the table, if the vehicle could have made "xx" more HP then GM would have put it out the door with the extra HP. That isn't accurate either, there is always corporate strategy, lawyers, the NTSHA, the DOT, the EPA and I am sure several other people involved that come to the conclusion of the power we get from the manufacture.

I have said it since I put the Airaid on my 2014 6.2 truck, you could tell the truck picked up some power and the MPG went up as well. Same with my 2016 truck and same on our other vehicle that I mess around with, once I opened up the intake tract on it and put a larger filter media on it the vehicle picked up noticeable power.

So with that, OP just read the BB report and make your decision based on the results and your pocket book. I am happy with my Airaid system, now if I could just find time for some more HP mods.
