just an odd question

So this is going to sound like a really dumb question, I came from a half ton to a 3/4..and i'm noticing if i'm going up a hill and just let off the truck just stops...is this the 4.10 gearing pushing back or what? my 04 half ton coasted. I'm also noticing a slight growl like a rumble strip when i'm going up a hill and let off to turn(I have to go up two hills to get home) almost like the tranny is confused or somethings fighting back?

Again sorry for the silly post

I have a 2015 3500HD DRW Crew Cab and it doesn't do that. Granted it doesn't gain speed coasting uphill, but it doesn't make any noise as you described when I let off the gas. Is it a 4X4? If this is still under warranty, take it in to your dealer.

its got less then 2000 miles...its not a constant thing and i live in a place of horrid roads so it could potentially be the stretch of road..so with that said i might be being paranoid. Anyways i was just wondering why it basically stalls going up hill, no momentum or coasting at all. down hill it coasts just fine, upshifts and all that

Sounds normal. This was something to really get used to. These trucks decelerate like crazy when you let off the gas.

Doug it sounds normal to me. You got to get used to being in a totally different truck. I came out of a 1500 for years and years and it took me actually quite a while to get in tune with my 2500. Yea it will stop going up a hill with no gas, that's normal to me anyway. My truck weighs in at 7200 on the scales so yep got to stay on the gas going up a hill. That rumble is the exhaust on my truck when Im on the gas going up the hill and getting on the pedal.

Heck, my truck stops itself going DOWNHILL. Should save me lots of money on brake jobs down the road.

Sometimes road surfaces can really mess w/ you. I know I've noticed it too. Driving along and something sounds funny. Turn onto another highway w/ older or newer pavement & the "noise/vibration" goes away.

As others have said, these things slow like crazy when you let off the gas. Saves brakes!

And that rumble, it's the exhaust. These things sound pretty good stock.

Yep, mine does it too. Doesn't coast nearly as easily as my old 1500. As others have said, I notice that I use the brakes less. It's a whole different feeling, but I'm getting used to it.

I ended up coming home in the middle of the night from work, and tinkered around with good vs bad roads..big vs small hills and all you guys are right i'm just overacting and it seems normal. the rumble strip growl was indeed a chunk of road a plow had mangled. Thank you all for your time.
