Painted Taillights

Decided to black out the taillights today. Used VHT Niteshade. Sanded, painted, cleared, and finished it off with rubbing compound. Still have to polish, but love the way it came out. Also removed the running boards recently and finally that god awful chrome fuel door cover the previous owner had installed. She's starting to really look purty now :)

I had some painted for a while. I like the look, but the safety factor kicked in and I went back to stock.

It does look nice and clean that way. but you left the reverse light cover clear.... so you are concerned with your ability to see when you back up, but not others' ability to see you from behind in the fog......

Don't need to worry about fog. I live in Homestead, South of Miami.

I've tinted the tails of every car I've owned. Never had issues. Lights on and when braking are very noticeable. Not to mention I have an LED bar under the tailgate.

And not tinting the reverse light was more for looks. Breaks up the black color nicely

Just a coat or two from some tinted clear would be ideal. I can't stand the matte finish from the VHT.

Looks good on your truck with the smoked lights.

I did clear coat them. They are not matte at all.

The finish looks like a flat black to me. Just a few drops of black paint in the clear tints it and they come out just as shiney as the paint. Either way, still looks good on the blue.

Yeah the picture isn't showing it right. I also still have to polish them. When I get a chance tomorrow I'll snap some better photos. They're definitely glossy though. I hate the matte look
