Can multiple tpms be active at the same time?

 

I have a 2016 Tahoe and a 2017 Silverado. Both have a set of 20" wheels and a set of 22" wheels with tires. Currently the 22's are on both vehicles with the 20's stored in the garage. Both are using their respective original tpms without problem. I would like to install new tpms in the spare wheels/tires and have the ability to switch wheels without having to move tpms when switching.

 

Is this possible?

Yes, but you have to sync the TPMS, you'd have too anyway if you were rotating them in the process.

Yes, you will just have to relearn the wheels every time you swap them just as if you were rotating them, exactly what Coby7 said.

So he would have to go get the TPM's re-programmed? Or, is the re-learning done just from driving it a certain distance/time?

 

The reason I ask, is because I have the same problem. I have a set of 20" rims that are aftermarket, and a set of 20" rims that are GM, but the TPM's do read correctly in my truck because they are from a 2016 GMC. I have a avenue to buy a generic set of TPM's, or a set of factory GM TPM's from the dealership I bought the truck from (I will need to get the truck programmed for each set I know). Does the truck remember each set, or every time I swap rims and tires do I have to go get the truck re-programmed?

All Gm vehicles remember 4 sensors only.

Yes just have to reset the tpms each time you swap tires.i run snows for the winter then back to other set in the spring.takes all of a minute to reset the tpms with the tool they sell for about 60.00
