Adding a subwoofer to Bose

So I decided to treat myself to celebrate my promotion and ordered a nice flat sub to place under my backseat. I've seen some posts and a video on tapping the factory sub cable from the bose amp on the back wall.

Has anyone done this? Should I tap a speaker wire instead? The sub has both high and low level inputs so I'll be using the high level.

Any insight would be appreciated

As opposed to the factory Bose sub output?

If your amp has a crossover I'd use the factory high from a full range door speaker and let the amp do the frequency filtering. You could try the sub but it may not be the most efficient signal for your new sub. You might end up clipping the top end of what the new sub can do. But to be honest I haven't messed with the Bose system on this gen of truck, only the last gen. The doors may not have the lower frequency on the Bose system like the non-Bose system does.

Appreciate the input

I added a sub to my bose system. Tapped into the sub output from the bose amp behind the passenger side rear seat....don't even have to remove it you can sneak your hand back there to unplug the connectors. I'm no aftermarket audio expert but it sounds pretty good to me.

Yes.. I have the factory bose sub, left everything in place just tapped into the output from the factory bose amp for my signal to my aftermarket amp for aftermarket sub

I can tell u the color wires later if you need them and try to get a pic.

Wonder if you could just take out the factory sub and fit in an aftermarket one in that box with some modifications..

If you could let me know the colors that'd be great. What year/bodystyle is your truck?

There's a thread floating around where someone did that. They used a Polk powered enclosure with some minor modification

Mine is a 14 sierra slt crew.. shouldn't make a difference I don't think...behind the rear seat pull back the insulation and look up you'll see the amp with the connectors facing down.. it's the dark blue/gray (+) and gray/black (-) on the last connector on the right.

One more question. Did you wire both the left and right high level input to the factory subwoofer lead?
