Adding a subwoofer to Bose

I did my 2016 bose system as well. Tapped the bose subwoofer outputs. The signal output is a nice clean low frequency range. Placed a single JL Audio 13tw5 under the passenger side rear seat (box from subthump). Used a Audio control LC2i signal processor from the sub signal so that I could add a bass knob upfront (located in the top of the map holder beside the driver's right leg and can easily control the loudness of the bass. You can not see the knob unless you know it is there. Amp is a JL 500 HD. Both the LC2i and amp are located under the driver side back seat but can be reached for adjustments if needed along the back/floorboard area. Luckily able to mount it where it does not affect storage space. Super happy with sound and most think I have upgraded the entire system not just adding a sub. It truly sounds like a different system with the sub.

Yes here are a couple... One of the amp set up on the driver side... The other is the subthump box with the JL 13tw5. . The amp is set under the back seat on driver side towards the back wall at an angle that allows the seat to raise and lower but also allows me to easily make adjustments if needed.

Sweet^^ So this maybe a better alternative to the Kicker Soundgate system ?? I love to add a rear sub to my Bose system. Price wise which would be more economical??

I don't know the Kicker price but the prices I paid were approximately as follows:

500 watt JL Audio amp $450

JL Audio 13tw5-3ohm (discontinued v2 in place) - $500

Audio control lc2i around - $100

Wire and smalls accessories - $100

Subthump box - $170 with shipping and extra costs. Without any installation costs materials would be around - $1300 to $1350 plus/minus

Thank you for the price list! Definitely helps us non-electronic folk with decisions regarding system set-ups!

You bet... And just as an FYI... You may be able to get a better deal on an amp (I bought my amp and sub several years ago) ...On the sub I want a good size without taking up too much space (.8 cubic ft) so 13.5" sub was one of the few low profiles a few years ago... I think JL has since come out with some lower profile flat style smaller subs as well(10/12). I also wanted something for a sealed enclosure as I listen to a lot of 80s and 90s rock music and the bass drum is hard to sound good, too me, on a ported system.

Any issue with the Active Noise Cancelling on the Denali?  you have 6.2L engine?

Thanks.

None at all... I cut the wire (purple and blue? -crankshaft replicating wire) that sends signal to the bose AMP that tells it to engage the noise cancelling. I posted somewhere else the details of the which sometime back... I just don't remember all the details.

If your amp has a crossover I'd use the factory high from a full range door speaker and let the amp do the frequency filtering. You could try the sub but it may not be the most efficient signal for your new sub. You might end up clipping the top end of what the new sub can do. But to be honest I haven't messed with the Bose system on this gen of truck, only the last gen. The doors may not have the lower frequency on the Bose system like the non-Bose system does.

There isn't a full range signal available anywhere I'm the vehicle with Bose.   That's what. Jl Audio Clean sweep or anyother summing device.  It takes all the inputs fr the head unit combines them for a true Full range signal.  If you tag a door, even the sub after the radio the signal has been processed that little Fosgate 5 channel already has the.fromt read and sub crossover points permanently set.

Hope that makes sense.  Obviously the factory sub isn't playing any 35 hz tones,. The JL 8 will play that low tho.   But what's the point of the signal its recieving is bandpassed between 40hz

and 220hz

Anybody know what type of terminal this is? The connector it belongs to is for the Bose amp connector X1. 2015 Silverado 1500. Tried GT 280 female, but it won`t fit in the connector.

    • Okay boys and girls I put a bottle of this in Dizzy the oil burning guineapig after a tank between the coil and plug service of the #3 hole and near the end of the first R&P 5W30 attempt. As a note I did a two R&P oil changes back in October of 2025 with little effect. Granted they were 1K mile a shot oil changes so.... Then followed by fourteen  1K mile changes of Mobil 1 Euro 5W30 FS. Also ineffective.    Anyone who has followed the adventures of Dizzy may remember that to put the oil on the full mark of the published nominal 5 quart change I withhold about a cup of oil. That over the last 50K miles the P0420 light has been a frequent flyer, sometimes three of four a day. And that even on 93 octane fuel she registers some KR even in moderate conditions on favorable days on slight inclines. Lastly when giving her a kick in the pants, something done about once a week, she looks like a diesel with the pump turned up. 😬   After one bottle and over the last 500 miles of a 3K mile OCI, of the first oil change I dropped the nastiest looking oil ever in her history. That's saying something as  you will recall I have used AutoRx, HP EC30/40 and a few other harsh solvents in her before including the GM top soak twice. This was syrup. Black stinky, inky syrup but the filter wasn't all that bad.    On the second fill I had to use the entire 5 quarts to reach the full mark. That was unexpected! The ignition KR is completely gone! Even at 99% engine load. MAP is much lower. Level road is now 9.8 instead of 12.5. Fuel economy is remarkably higher and for the first time since her earliest days she will spin to 6500, more than a thousand higher with out laying down dead. Yes, the coil and plug had something to do with that but remember the first 2500 miles after that repair on the first change it was same ole same ole Dizzy. Seems we have top rings that are somewhat functional again. P0420 code only comes on now if run in town for more than an hour of stop and go. On the open road it goes weeks without a incident. Perhaps it is cleaning the cat on the pass through?  Fuel Trims have improved as well. Nothing not to like.    To early to say about oil economy but the changes to date in the operational aspect is remarkable. I can't think of a worse case than Dizzy.... It's already paid for itself in a few tanks of fuel with the mpg improvement.    @OnTheReel, I'd say if the Jeep didn't respond perhaps there wasn't an issue to respond to.    I've run the Red Line SI-1, AMSOIL fuel cleaner, GUMOUT and Techron all in this SUV without any such results. Color me impressed. I'll be running out my supplies of the list mentioned and moving on to the Valvoline R&P Fuel System Cleaner.
    • Hey Chuck !!Thanks for the all the info I'm an old fart and I have everything I need for the oil change at home, minus flexibility .... and I’ve been doing my own oil changes for 40 years. I just didn’t want to end up without a crush washer or with the wrong one in my stash and have to walk to the auto parts store, lol. I climbed under the truck to check the location, and man, it’s going to be the easiest oil change and filter swap in the last 40 years—right up there with my 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander 2.4. No mess, nothing to drip on—just perfect. I’ve got one more free oil change to use, and then that’s it with the dealership!
    • I think this subforum was created for the new generation pickup trucks (2027-) with the 3.0 but I don't think it's a big deal either way. There are probably 2027 model-year specific changes for the SUV's too.   I was just curious if you had issues with your 2025 3.0. I'm still under 10k miles on mine and fingers crossed I don't have thrust bearing issues. I'm guessing not, since you're willing to buy another one! It's a good engine minus one or two manufacturing whoopsies.
