Hood alignment off from factory?

I just picked up a new 2017 but noticed that the hood clips/rubs the grille when you open and close the hood. It even chipped the paint! Is this normal? Anyone else have this issue? Gawd, I hope this is warranty work.

Not normal and will probably get worse over time. If the rub goes too far that area will rust. Should be a quick trip to the body shop at your dealer for a hood adjustment along with a repaint.

No way that should've gotten out of the plant like that!

On my '11, the antenna bracket was wayy off (at the end of slot in cowl) from the factory. I didn't bother doing anything about it as I figured the remedy would be worse that the problem. (the bracket is spotwelded to the cab)

Take it back to the dealer.

Update.

I brought it back to the dealer and their body shop is going to repaint/blend the hood. They will order new emblems and grill but not a new hood painted from factory. Grrr!

for the most part ... the only person to REALLY look over a new vehicle for flaws is the buyer ... dealer prep is a joke

the assembly line installers get just a few seconds to attach whatever, and if there's an issue they let it go by (literally), only the dealer or buyer will find it - many trucks are delivered will low or no fluids, missing parts, and misaligned panels .... the assembly line workers should be obligated to tag something that is NOT right - obviously that does not happen ... no excuse by GM to runs things that way (quick & cheep will not build future buyers)

That's because GM sells sheet metal primed and un painted.

I think he means he will have a after painted good vs the OEM. One good thing op, is it's white, there will only be a slight amount of actual color on your hood and clear. It will be much thicker than OEM and probably will last longer.
