No Middle Headrest In 2nd Row

You know with yours and other’s ideas to take it to an upholstery shop for that headrest mod – this is a WIN - WIN for you and the wife - and you can keep both the truck and the wife!

It would be no different than having Katzkin leather installed – which I had done on the 2007.5 - they remove the upholstery “cover” to do so.

Then install headrest brackets and headrest - maybe sourced from a 2014-2017 junkyard seat. Then re-install the original leather.....

Looks good - wish I had that shop here in the Seattle/Tacoma area. I need my '62 Dart wagon done.

You know that pearl white is a $1,000 up charge you basically got for FREE with the deep discount - double sweet........ Mine will be the dark metallic red ($500 up charge).........

Oh you did fine - I will be limited to supplier pricing plus whatever rebated at time of delivery - be lucky if it totals $5,000.

Sorry to resurrect a zombie thread, but I was wondering how the center seat head restraint retrofit worked out. Do you have photos?

I'm with the wife on this one... if there aren't enough head restraints for everyone, it's a dealbreaker. We almost passed a sweet deal on our 2012 Sierra crew cab because the outboard head restraints in that model year didn't adjust tall enough for an adult and at least sometimes I need to haul my big kids (one is 6'5") and one of my minor kids is on track to take after her brother and grow into a very tall teenager before long. But as we were staring at the truck longingly I suddenly got the bright idea to remove a rear head restraint and a front head restraint and swap them... they fit! So I bought a couple extra front head restraints and installed them in the rear and problem solved for those outboard seats (since we only have 2 kids at home).

But... as the kids have grown, they also fight more in the back seat so now the shrimpy little one's car seat is behind the passenger and the older, tall one rides behind the driver. So in order to safely add my 6'5" kid in the vehicle, I have to move the car seat to the center and that's a hassle. I'd rather move my older child into the center for those occasional rides and let my grown up son take her place behind the driver, but she'd need that head restraint.

We *can* safely fit all 3 in the back seat, but if we can do it more easily, with the flexibility of having a tall kid or an adult ride in the center, that would definitely be worthwhile.
