No special badging.

The big tow mirrors were standard on the 16 and 17

i have a 2017 slt and don't have tow mirrors

You can get the trailer brake option on a non max package.... But yes, your are correct, that the max tow comes standard with the brake controller.

NHT Max Trailering Package, includes 9.76" rear axle, 8-speed transmission with 3.42 or 6-speed transmission with 3.73, (JL1) trailer brake controller, enhanced cooling radiator, revised shock tuning for increased control, heavier duty rear springs and increased RGAWR
On SLE trim - Requires a Crew Cab or Double Cab model. Includes (G80) heavy-duty automatic locking rear differential on 2WD models (already standard on 4WD models) and Z82 Trailering Package. Requires (L83) 5.3L EcoTec3 V8 engine and (DPN) power camper mirrors. Not available with (Z71) Off-Road Suspension Package. Includes (UHN) 18" X 8.5" bright-machined aluminum wheels. Requires (RKX) 18" tires or may upgrade to (RD3) 20" bright machined aluminum wheels with either (RC7) or (QSS) 20" tires.

So.....it seems that:

On some cab type and trim level types, trailering mirrors (the DPN version) can be ordered without NHT.

 

 

 

And chev has the trailering mirrors available through accessories anyway, so seeing the mirrors does not a guarantee that the truck is an NHT.

Sorry, I didn't mean to make it sound like you couldn't add the mirrors to a different truck that didn't have the max tow package. ( I pointed that out with the brake controller earlier also.)

But what I was saying is if you have the max tow package (2016,2017), it will come with the tow mirrors automatically........2014 and 15 they were an option on the max tow package instead of standard, like now.

What I don't understand why no max tow on a Z71?

I don't know, the only thing I could think of is the shocks are not the same, and therefore can't call it a z71?

I liked the looks of the z71 better but I really wanted the max tow more! I took off the plastic skid plates and added the metal skid plates to my truck( I'm not sure if the z71 still come with those or not anymore)

With that being said I actually got to drive a loaner z71for a few days and I actually liked the way my max tow handled the bumps on the roads better...just my .02

Trailer mirrors were standard/required on 15 and 16 as well.

My bad Redwngr, I didn't think the New DQS mirrors came out until 16'model year (that's when it went from being an option to required)....

Knotsure and Krusty asked if there was any little clues and or special badging to let them know it was a max tow package, obviously people can add or remove things, but I would say if it's got the bigger camper mirrors,(apparently 14' model year was the only year that wasn't required to have the camper mirrors)

it could be worth an inspection on the dealer's lot to see the actual rpo codes if your looking to buy a new or used one. If your just cruising down the road, then it's just a guess.

      2 speed transfer case optional now?

      I can only guess as well that something was clicked on that brought you to the half ton choices by accident. By all means try again and chose the 3500 and sort out that its the cab and box configuration you want and choose four wheel drive ( rather obvious to have a transfer case ) and to make sure the dually isn't chosen. I find or at least did a couple of years ago when I was sifting through the options that it would sometimes jump ahead after choosing the series of truck and in this case 3500 and skip some of the other initial configuration choices and have to watch the heading bar and sometimes back up by choosing the first in the series of option break downs. I think sometimes the computer will remember items that were last chosen and skip over the first part. Anyway go through it all and depending on the trim level chosen and I think the LT is one that may fall into that where the option of having the 4 high auto transfer case can be chosen, where as a High Country doesn't show that option as it just comes with the fancier ( not necessarily better though in terms of potential problems ) transfer case but for sure both transfer case choices are equipped with high and low range in the HD truck segment. Like Newdude said who works at a dealership, its the half tons that are the ones that will come with the single speed unless certain options or trim levels are chosen that add the two speed transfer case but as your looking at an HD, you don't have to worry about that hot mess.    One item that at least didn't show up and not sure if it does yet or not in the HD options on the manufactures pubic website is the upfitter in cab switch option if one is desiring that. Unfortunately its not wired in at the factory but the panel with the switches is on the dash but the wiring harness to be installed gets tossed under the rear seat to be installed by whomever after the fact to complete the installation.

      Yesterday we brought home a 6yr  old Havanese dog from a nearby SPCA.  We've had her for 24 hours and we are delighted with how well she is adjusting to her new home.  It  was a huge decision to adopt a dog at this stage in our lives but we believe we made the right choice!   it was reported that her first 6 years were ones of neglect.  I think she's already realizing her life is going to get a whole lot better...  so is ours!

      No doubt, I definitely agree with you. However, considering the 6.2 and 3.0 have been catastrophically failing with very little miles, I figured I would put trouble free. I’m at 18,4xx and still not a single issue.

      It’s never dry here but it gets hot. My 4 vehicles I keep at home drive an 18 mile loop. One 6 days a week. Two about 3 days each and one once a month. Only one goes on trips about 4 times a year 1000 to 2000 miles each time. One 26 years old gets driven once a month for 22 years. One 14 years old goes 6 days a week. The other two are recent at 2 and 4 years. All are performing normal no extra service other than that would be half of recommended or severe service in the maintenance manual. No extra water or steam out the exhaust or premature plug wear. I would consider an 18 mile loop would be enough. So apparently once a month at 18 miles for 22 years has kept the collector car running well. About 45 minutes a month.
