Just replaced mine today on my ‘17 AT and the same thing happened. Thanks for all the insight and it doesn’t surprise me one bit that I got some debris in the blower. I’ll be working on cleaning it out tomorrow I guess ??‍♂️

Holy crap, did you buy the one from the dealer that they keep and show everyone telling them that it is theirs?

That is a lot of stuff going through your dash/firewall.

? I bought it back in January of this year with a whopping 17k miles on it. It’s in great shape but I don’t think it was taken very good care of prior to me getting it. I’m more upset that the dealership I bought it from wouldn’t have checked/replaced that before reselling it. I also had to have an injector revolved about a month after purchase, luckily it was still under warranty.

Is it a CPO?

I went back in after reading this thread and I found leaves in mine. I was able to pull them out by hand. Problem solved, and the filter replacement went much faster the second time! (2011 Cadillac SRX)

I had a mouse nest on top of the filter, vacuumed it all up. Then dropped an acorn into the blower squirrel cage, made the fan unbalanced. The acorn was lodged in the find. Reached in and popped it through end up rattling around under the blower. Pulled the under dash trim, 7mm screws, had to rip out the back right hand screw, up against the floor by the firewall. Then pulled 3 torque screws, dropped the blower enough to fish out the acorn. With maneuvering I think you can drop the blower. 3 hours of cutup hands over 1 acorn.

Great info. About to pull mine fan motor out tomorrow.. Had a huge mouse nest in cabin air filter. Only 5000 miles on a 2019 late buy, sadly not driven enough. Spends winter in garage. Summer too.. But in the country we are loaded with mice.

so I changed cabin air filter and I saw debris fall down, fan making a lot of noise.

Also found a snake skin mixed in with all the debris. Maybe that’s where the mouse is🥴

I’ll post update. New member

Update on my post. Success! Rigged up small hose attached to shop vac and sucked out the squirrel cage of debris.

Quiet fan now, without having to drop the blower motor/fan. Thanks for the advice. Now to keep em from getting in.

I also have the noisy blower noise after changing the cabin air filter, I am going to try and remove the offender tomorrow. I have had 3 filters destroyed in 7 months. I am told that peppermint on the filter will keep the mice away!! I'll try anything at this point.

THANK YOU!!! I had the same whirling sound after changing the cabin filter. I duct taped a smaller flexible hose to my shop vac, hand fed it down into the blower, and got whatever small debris was causing the problem!!

Had this happen to me on a 2019 Suburban after changing the cabin filter. Where the filter goes (when ac is off) reach hand in that little hole and check most likely a leaf or something in there which causes the sound.
