GM Borla or Borla Touring - flapper worth it?

I called borla and asked if I bought the touring without the flapper and didn't like the v4 mode noise, would they sell me just the front pipe section from the gm version with the flapper in it. As I expected, the answer was no, it is not for sale.

I'm thinking about just replacing the muffler on my truck with the Borla touring 19131346. Any thoughts about just cutting out the old muffler and putting in the new muffler with the stock pipe? Trying to save some money for other mods.

So you want to keep the stock resonator and flapper and weld in the borla gmpp muffler?

There was a post on here about that someplace where a guy did just that but it didn't have a video of how it sounds. I had thought of doing the same

Right now I have a carven tr muffler, no flapper and still have Oem resonator. It's not loud. Nice growl I have to drone and I don't hear and v4 helicopter.

Yeah I saw that. Must be bending the flex joint in the front pipe of the exhaust to make the offset work.

Did you post up a video in cab of how it sounds accelerating and in v4 with craven?

Yeah, probably. I wish that guy didn't remove his pictures of the install. i'm leaning towards just getting a sport muffler and trying the muffler replace only.

Although, everytime i start to research exhaust, i end up with 30 different ways i want to go.

I did not. I'm not sure how. I'm not very tech savvy. I can say it's exactly what I wanted quiet around town. Nice rumble when flooring. No drone no chop.

I did muffler delete, most younger folks would like it. I went back with a magaflo knock off. Never read mention of super trapp, did that on my 04 Z71. In town I removed all the disc, on a trip I added back to quite it down.

I've done two catback exhaust systems and a cold air intake. Epic fail on all 3. Back to stock with less money in my pocket. Choose wisely.

Care to elaborate why it was a fail?
