Wireless car play or android auto solution?

Anything I can do after market to get android auto or CarPlay to work without having to have a USB cable plugged in so I can just use the wireless charging?

Can't answer your question but Google announced wireless last May at IO....still waiting, ha ha. It was originally going to only work with Wifi vehicles but I'm guessing that they are switching to Bluetooth now that a new more powerful version is coming. Google IO is only a couple months away, would think that they would be embarrassed to not have it a year after announcement. Anyway there is a an "Android Auto community" but the Mod has been silent for too long now so who knows!!!

Car Play is wireless now but all I know is it may not work very well.

I don't mind plugging in for trips but around town it's more trouble than it's worth, just use my phone standalone.

I bought a inexpensive charging dock off of Amazon for my S8 and mounted it in my console so I could just easily dock my phone and don't have to mess with the cord. So much less of a headache. Especially since I use my Google Maps for traffic so much. And it handles charging duty as well. A win, win.

so when docked it will activate the car play?

Yes. Just plug the usb cable from dock into the sub port on the truck. Charges and activates Android Auto just like normal. There's nothing special about a charging dock. The only thing inside is a short usb extension cord.

cool. why is the usb in glove box white? any ideas?

The dye for black probably cost an extra .000001 cents.

My guess would be to make it stand out in glove box.

I hadn't noticed it, but due to your post I went out and plugged my 32GB microSD/adapter into the glove box input.

Wasn't sarcasm. Trucks with a center console don't have a white port, from what I understand. They're only on trucks with the jump seat. If it meant something, I would guess it would be across the line. Best guess I saw was visibility just above.

It's definitely a media port. It also does not charge as fast as the other ports. I wonder why it's white and also why it's a slow charger
