Diablo or Hypertech

I'm getting the suspension maxx 2.5" level kit installed tomorrow along with 305 55 r20 BFG KO2s. Since the speedometer will be off I've looked at both Diablo inTune i2 and hypertech max as they can adjust tire size but you can also tune if you wanted. Wanted the groups opinion on which to go with. The only other modification I have planned is a CAI (probably AFE momentum) haven't decided if I would actually do the tune from either company yet though. Thoughts?

If you are going to void the warranty, get a custom tune instead.

+1. Any tune has the potential of being discovered and voiding your warranty. Go with a Blackbear tune. I paid around $350 for the top Hypertech model and was not impressed with their tuning. Made it shift hard and confused and didn't notice any gains, so now am just using it for an expensive way to turn off AFM. Also, Blackbear can reduce the torque management that GM programmed in, and the others don't.

I was in the situation and ended up buying the Hypertech MaxEnergy 2.0 - I will admit that the biggest reason I bought it was that I had a $300 credit at Auto Anything from a return and the Hypertech was on sale for $299. Is it as impressive as a custom tune - of course not. I have not used Black Bear but had custom tunes done on several trucks in the past - you definitely will get a very noticeable increase in performance. That said, I was surprised at the changes I experienced with the Hypertech. I adjusted my throttle response to "performance" which feels much better than the stock throttle response. I also set the AFM to kick in at 55 mph, all set points for tranny +200rpm, throttle,+200, firmness to shift 50% firmer, top speed set to 112 mph instead of the factory 98.

Another vote for Hypertech 2.0 for the little guy who doesn't want to go whole hog on a custom tune.

I am pleased with the Hypertech 2.0 part 2000 so far. Their latest update does include the 8 spd adjustments. Got me an upshift tire chirp happening now LOL. I am sure the custom tune is the chit but I am not going to that much trouble myself. I really like the flexibility being able to change anything at anytime and go back to stock tune on my own as needed in just a few minutes. gotta love being able to set the AFM to only come on at highway speeds that is the main reason that I bought the handheld to start with.
