I've had my truck for a good while now and I want to lower the rear to be even with the front , I've looked around and seen a 2" drop shakle? Not familiar with this stuff but hoping to get some advice on this. Recommended brands ?

They are all pretty much the same. They are very basic, it would be hard to mess them up.

Me and my dad both went to our local shop to drop the rear 3". They installed a 2" drop shackle and they moved some piece above the axle which at the moment can't remember what but I can call tomorrow and double check. Here are our trucks with a 3" drop in the rear.

My dad's a 2017 CCSBpost-165154-14917745623_thumb.jpg

Mine a 2016 RCSB

Thanks for the reply boss! Both trucks look good! Exactly the look I'm after!

I've used Belltech rear shackles with 2" drop a couple of times with great results.

Thanks for the input, I'll look into those!

No problem. For me it was a quick way to get it leveled until I can decide how low I want to go and with which brand to go with.

DJM, Bell tech, I believe some one on here bought a set from Autozone (which were cheaper than most) and liked them.

McGaughys 2" drop shackle did not get my truck level. It took that and removing the blocks which is 3.25" total drop. Buuuuut that wasn't low enough so it got chopped even further :)

Will every 2" drop shackle be a little off ?

I'm not honestly sure. Every truck is slightly different, however, it seems as though regular cabs appear to have more rake than a normal truck.

They're not necessarily an easy install, but also not necessarily hard. I unbolted my trailer hitch in the rear (which has the adverse effect of your bumper nearly falling off) in order to get the shackle bolt out of the hanger. From there, I didn't have enough room to remove the top bolt even with the leaf spring pried upwards, so I removed all the bed bolts and jacked the bed up 2". This was enough to change the shackle itself. Once you install the shackle, you might have to bend/cut/caress the seam where your bed comes together. It seems like most of the guys here that install the drop shackles have had the same issue, however, every truck is different. I simply plasma cut a small notch above where the shackle travels elliptically and painted it with some undercoating.

Hope this helps! DM if you have any questions
