Meguiar's or Mother's is what I'd use. I would clay it before waxing the truck to get out all the crap that's embedded in your paint. Waxing over it will just seal all that stuff in.

I am in the same boat. I have lots of orange rust spots on my paint so was looking at IronX by carpro before clay and wax. But I am a rookie at detailing

I just clay bared mine the other day after a good hand wash. The rust spots do come off, just be persistent and keep rubbing the spot in different directions.

Make sure to wash again after claying, leaves a residue especially on the windows.

Have you seen IronX in action? Look it up on YouTube.

yes absolutely clay bar it. You should wash the truck using dish soap (this time ONLY). That will remove any waxes and oils on the car. Then use the clay bar with a lubricant (soapy water rather than the stuff in the kit) to remove all the embedded crap. Be sure to continue to fold the clay bar to a clean side to avoid scratching the paint. Then I re wash the car with the dish soap just to be sure its super clean. Then you do any paint correction (compounding and polishing) followed by an optional sealant then finally a coat or two of wax to really bring some shine and depth to the paint.

i got the mother clay bar i washed my truck with dish soap and I started on the hood but I'm not seeing anything on the clay bar it is at first a little rough and then getting to feel like glass the liquid is getting dirty like a light brown tint to it but the bar itself isn't turning brown or anything its staying the yellow color is this normal for mothers clay bar ? it even says on instruction when bar gets dirty/dark smudges fold over. i do hear stuff under the bar almost like sand is under the bar. i really appreciate your time and insight thank you

When it starts to feel like glass, then the claybar has done it's job. I don't think you're supposed to see anything overly dramatic in the clay (at least I never have).

I work a small 5x5 or so area at a time, making sure to keep the it wet with QD spray or the like. I fold in the clay bar and expose a fresh surface as I move to the next area.
