What is an acceptable about of shaking and bouncing?

Man that is too bad. I came really close to buying the 2500HD Diesel myself because I really liked the cool hood scoop but after driving a bunch of them I just could not see putting up with the stiffer ride on a long term basis plus messing with the extra Diesel maintenance. What silly engineer moved the DEF filler to under the hood on the 17's?. I ended up with a 17 Ultimate with the std 6-6 bed and she rides like a dream so far (knock on wood) 900 miles so far.

The DEF fill has always been under the hood on GM 2500/3500 diesel pickups.

I had no clue, I've owned 6 1500 size trucks in my life and they all have been wonderful, no shakes, no problems. I've never driven a 2500, I had no clue about the ride quality. I just assumed it drove like all of my other trucks. The salesman obviously took advantage of that situation by keeping me on low speed back roads.

I also had absolutely no clue about the Chevy shake issue, I've never had any issues with my past trucks so I had no reason to research it. If I had known more about the ride quality and shaking issues, I obviously would have been a lot more diligent in my test driving.

You mentioned chevy shake, can you upload pics of your truck? Just curious if you actually own one.

that was my first thought.

I have an old 96, I welded it to be abrick in the back.

I can't use p-rated tread anymore..and then found the fastest speed rating I could find on top of the load range E.

 

I love it now.

my dad's 2016, it is aplain jane half ton, with some towing extras.. his did the same thing as my old one after welding.

it is at 2k miles now, does good. I also noticed oil pressure went up..from 42 miles onward.

 

there is some dialing in to do.

 

for the 3/4 ton, no excuses.. check sidewall rating. they should be hefty... and not p-rated.
