By the way, that bulletin is a fraud, that is not a real bulletin. But apparently a new clip has come out to solve that problem. That really sucks.

It only affects older trucks, somewhere back in the early/mid 2000s...I know my 2012 was not affected. My understanding is that the pump can twist on the shaft and the pickup wears against the aluminum case which eventually causes a hole and a leak. Since the pump is turning anytime you are moving, it happens regardless of transfercase drive position (i.e., 2wd, 4wd, etc.).

The leak can be fixed, but requires the case to be torn down...I understand it is a hardened wear piece that gets installed (epoxied) under the pump pickup to protect the softer aluminum case and some stake the pump in place to prevent it from twisting in the first case. If you go full replacement, make sure that update was done or it will happen again.

looking in to it now, does not seem all that hard to work on? only hard part is just getting out form under the truck.?

As long as splitting something like a transfercase doesn't intimidate you, then pulling it from the truck is likely the hardest part.

You split the case, installed the upgraded case-saver oil-pump plate, thoroughly cleaned & prepped area of the hole, JBweld over the spot, then reassembled the case?

all I did was put JB weld over the hole in the cover on the outside. This week I did take it to a transmission shop. They said they do a lot of them. They tore it all apart and fixed it with the kit, new chain and cover.
