Windshield tint vs sunshade.

Looking into possibly getting ceramic tint on my windshield. Nothing real dark, say maybe 80-75%...to reduce heat inside the vehicle, and most importantly in an attempt to extend the length of my dash and interior.

Other option is a sunshade. I just hate fiddle f**king with them in my vehicle. Sounds lazy I know.

The glass already has UV protection correct? I have ceramic tint, 20%, on my side windows and seems to work pretty well as far as heat dissipation.

Thanks!

I do both.

Don't think I have ceramic but my front windshield has a film that is supposed to block 99% UV and reduce heat. It works alright I guess but I still use my OEM GMC sunshade when parked. Nothing works better than blocking the sun out all together.

I use both. I used to tint years ago and have a life long friend in the business. The clear-ish ceramic is absolutely great when driving and the AC is on. It does help when the vehicle is sitting in a parking lot but nothing like a sunshade can do. So they both serve a different purpose if that makes sense.

What ever you do, also use 303 Aerospace Protectant on the dash to keep it looking new and protect it from drying out or cracking.

When using it on the dash, spray the 303 on a clean rag and wipe that over the dash - it won't hurt to get over spray on the inside of the windshield but cleaning the inside of any windshield is always a pain!

Most marine and automotive stores sell it, or buy online.

I have ceramic on my truck and crystaline on my camry. I personally think the ceramic works better but both work well to block heat. The crystaline i have is totally clear and doesnt do anything wierd with polarised glasses. The ceramic has a slight grey and you will see a wierd rainbow effect with polarised glasses but nothing that will blind you.glass will block uvb which gives you a sunburn. it doesnt block uva which damages your skin like giving you wrikles and such. the window film will usually block both but nothing is 100%.

both were very expensive just for the windshield. I have regular mettalic tint on the other windows.

Do the tint - it cant hurt. I would say DO NOT put ANYTHING protectant wise on the dash. Every person I have talked to with the airbag dash crack surround has sprayed some shit on it. I got 55 months on mine and not a hint of a crack. I only use a damp microfiber cloth to wipe it down after a wash and never any chemicals...
