Does anybody have a picture where these condensers are leaking?

I had some pics in the condenser thread as well as a possible failure point for the trans cooler. There are 3 unbrazed joints on the driver's side which very commonly fail. Some of the aftermarket pieces appear to have addressed this issue. I would HIGHLY recommend that you find a fully brazed unit. Some have reported failures in the tubes themselves near the middle, but this seems much more rare.

Yeah, the API condenser I just installed has a different attachment of the drier tube (and mounting tabs) to the cooler/condenser tube. Almost a full length braze.

I'm just hoping there's no weakness at the mounting tabs on this API condenser.

That looks absolutely identical to the "ToughOne" that I just installed. All the way down to the box/packaging. Even the screw baggie taped to the back. FYI, reuse the stock coolant tube screw. MUCH nicer. And check trans cooler fittings for burrs.

I didn't take any inside the box, but the packaging appears 100% identical.

I knew i purchased an extended warranty on my truck but misplaced the paper work since the day we bought. We sold our house, moved in a rental while our new house was being built, etc.

Today, I decided to ride up to the dealer and check their records. He told me my extended warranty would cover a condenser replacement if that was the problem. He asked for the model year of my truck. I said 2014, he just looked at me and smiled. I could tell by that he knew what the problem was. He said it is a big problem and they are changing them all the time. He told me they got 9 aftermarket condensers in last Friday and had 2 left. He said he could have the tech check the system and if it is the condenser it is warranty covered. Turns out it was the condenser. I also got 3 recalls taken care of at the same time.

1. Hitch

2. Seat belt attachment (comes with a new part no more cutting)

3. SIR reprogram

I sat at the dealer about 4 hours and am pleased that I had cold AC all the way home today.

4 hrs for all that is most impressive. I'm happy if I get out under an hour for an oil change. Which is why I change my own oil.

I am the same way with oil changes. No way am I letting them do that when I can do it myself. I knew I had the warranty but wasn't sure if it would cover. I have never had real good luck in the past getting with doing AC work so why not try.

All that other stuff they have probably done so many times they have it down pat and can knock it out in no time.

Sounds like they have the condenser replacement down to a science.

There's a good YouTube on changing the condenser. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=NhCKHkfAUDg

Watched that last night and Im seriously considering going this route if I can get my hands on one quicker than the dealership. I will talk to them first tomorrow when I bring in my truck for a "diagnostic" and see what they tell me.

Update!

Got a call from my dealer this past Thursday saying they had the condenser parts in for my 2015 Silverado crew with 65,000 m. I couldn't believe it. I was told by multiple sources to expect up to 6 months and it only took about 2 weeks. I took it in right in that morning and they had it replaced in 2 hours. GM ended up charging me $330 deductible. Better then the $1250.00 I was quoted though this truck should never have had that problem after only 1 summer of use. So now it's going to be one of those things that I'm always wondering when it'll give out next. Though for now its case closed. Good luck everyone else.I hope your situation gets resolved as quickly as mine did. I was fully expecting to spend the entire summer in a sweltering haze. Cheers

Glad to hear your truck is fixed. Hoping I have the same luck as you. Truck has been sitting at the dealer for 2 1/2 weeks now. They gave me a loaner and waived the $50 deductible. Just sucks not having the truck :-(

Dropping my truck off tonight to the dealer but I got to looking last night and noticed a couple things that were odd, to me at least.

1. remote start wont work. Is this a safety measure when the AC is out?

2. neither fan will come on when the compressor is running. I know bad idea to turn it on, I was just looking for a second. There also is not a 15 amp fuse there they say "cool fan" or something like that should be.

3. While ac is running (not cooling) I now have a high pitched whining noise coming from the vents.

Also, Im sure this is all coincidence but my battery went dead on me on fathers day.

Ill sign that list. I got stuck on bumper to bumper traffic yesterday for 20 min. Cab temp read 92 and it was raining outside.

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. Fred's favourite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention. Vote carefully in the next election, you can't always hear the bells.
    • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
