A/C Not Blowing cold.

What is the GM number you have been calling? We had our truck in the shop and they diagnosed our issue as a bad compressor. $1300 later with a new compressor, the AC was still blowing hot air. We took it back and now they are saying it's our condenser. We have been waiting for this part since May 22 and have spent about $400 on freon in the past 2 months. This is insane.

I have the Chevy app my phone and called 1-800-222-1020. Getting and of a live person isn't too hard but I actually had better response when I emailed. I just went online to chev website and filled out a complaint. They escalated my case, gave me a case number and a guy named AJ calls me all the time.

Sorry you are having the same problem. It sucks to pay $40k for a vehicle and then can't even get it fixed when it breaks. If Chev doesn't come through by my deadline, I will post class action info here.

Wow! Been reading this thread and it's basically a replay of my own experience. My 15' that I have bought on the last business day of 2015 is doing the same. 1 summer of use and then all I get is hot hot air this spring. I have 63,000 on it so screwed on warranty end. I'd make them give me a identical loaner if it were. Instead I'm told it'll cost me $1255 and take anywhere from 1-6 months. I contacted gm and got assigned a rep named Clarence who is great at calling me every 2 weeks to tell me there's no news to report and still no verdict on if gm will cover some or all of this cost. Really really burns me. My last truck was the same model and had nothing but issues and terrible trouble dealing with gm to fix. Well this time I bought over 80k in 2 new trucks and have already had to deal with vacuum boost drum at 40,000 miles that they tried to ram me on $900 for then this air conditioned disaster only a month later.. Most likely will have to jump ship after this debacle. Going a whole summer without air in a $40,000 truck is unacceptable! Especially for a contractor my office IS My truck and I'm in it all the time. Sweat just pouring down my face and back because you can't talk on the Bluetooth with Windows down and the phone is always ringing! Sorry if I ranted more than described my situation but if there's any kind of group forming for a petition to legal action please count me in and contact me.

I had good luck going through Chevy customer care email on their website for my A.C. compressor

Does any know if the new 84211191 condenser has the transmission oil cooler integral to the assembly?

I bought my silverado in November of 2014 brand new. In June of 2015, my air went out, however, I was under warranty and didn't have to pay for it!!!! Well now that my two year warranty expired, guess what just happened again, you guessed it, my air is out again. I love my truck, but I know that it is not NORMAL for the AC to go out in multiple Chevy/GMC trucks. I need to see the company step up to the table and handle this defect in AC parts/assembly that's causing these issues. In other words, not only do I want my truck fixed by Chevy, a RECALL is in order, there are already 15 recalls on the 2014 silverado based upon the information found on the cars.com site, so why not prove to us owners that you value us as loyal customers by implementing this recall immediately. I would like to receive a response from Chevy/GMC and then we can talk privately.

No way I am going to suffer the summer heat for 6 months waiting on a silly part. Has anyone attempted some JBWeld on the crack yet? If it is accessible and you could clean it thoroughly you might get a good enough seal to make it last until your new condenser shows up. So lets see here JBWeld and cleaning supplies lest allow 25 bucks. 30 lb jug of R134A about 100 bucks. Elcheapo set of auto AC gauges from like Harbor freight or walmart $50.00 Should be well under 200 bucks out of pocket. Now if you do not stop it completely but slow the leak down enough to make it last say a couple of weeks at a time then you will be golden as the 30lb jug will refill the typical auto ac system 8 to 10 times. Only takes like 10 minutes to hook the gauges up and refill. Might kill off some of the Ozone layer by releasing a greenhouse gas indiscriminately but hey your arse will be cool.... get your priorities straight "cilly tree huggers"

I wonder when they will get this straightened out if ever. Kind of saddens me to think my 2015 will have this issue eventually. With 21k on the clock and just over 18 months of trouble free ownership this stinks.

Makes me glad I have my 06 Avalanche as back up for now.

I doubt JBWeld will hold the pressure. But there seems to be aftermarket condensers available. I found one on Amazon.

My system leaked again and I'm currently leak down testing the evaporator. If it passes, I'll leakdown test the condenser.

Better hope it is not the condenser line. Just seen this on DealersEdge. Looks like GM is really clamping down on selling condenser lines not attached to a new truck. Must be affecting new truck production and that is top priority.

Well, my 2014 did not get cold Friday on my way home from work. I bought the truck used in October of 2015 with 42k miles. It's been good on all aspects until Friday. I drive 40 miles to work each way. It is supposed to be in the 90's starting next week and no relief in sight for quite some time. I am sure it will be in the 90's the rest of the summer and my truck is black. I added about 3 ounces of 134a this afternoon and it started blowing as cool as it has since I got the truck. Hopefully the leak is small enough that it will last the rest of the summer.

I added no dye to try and track the leak. I have 3 recalls setting in our junk drawer. None of them really mean that much to me. This is something that means a lot but will probably never make recall status because it is not a safety thing.

I'm going to leave my evaporator leak down test going a couple days. It dropped a couple psi this evening, but r134 pressure is temperature dependent and it has dropped at least 7-8 degrees.

I have all new lines. I UV light checked for line leaks. No indications. If it's not the evaporator, it's gotta be the condenser.

    • I understand. It is disturbing to think a manufacture asks so much and gives so little in engineering support. This is not a GM issues, this is a greed issue and one the ALL practice.    My intent was not to remove the wind from anyone's sail but rather to point out the areas deficient so that they can be discussed with improvements the goal. But to do that you have to know the truth and what that truth is.    The commercial interest are honed in on a few select issues in which they control all the variables and are not forthcoming in the least with their customers about the details. Failure is the only thing that drives these people to improvement. One way not to fail it to manage public "expectations". The set a bar they can clear and put their thumbs under the suspenders with chest puffed.... Only the internal data tells the story fully. As we don't have access to that for decades then we have to generate it ourselves. UOA's with data that matters.
    • I had skimmed through that article when you posted the link and honestly I felt rather defeated in a sense and realized that all these years in changing oil that in fact putting in what I was told was a good quality oil was probably not filtered as well as it should be although the filter put on the engine would be what ( as long as it never went into bypass mode ) would be the final filtering of the new oil that the engine components would first see, but then the filtering media itself is not up to par to what is ideal because a full flow filter would be too restrictive to filter fine enough for the engines best outcome in the long run. Only one of our tractors over the years which was a Versatile with a 855 Cummins had a separate bypass filter, some engine manufacturers did spec a partial bypass system within the main oil filter but I don't believe any other trucks or equipment I was servicing used such a filter. No doubt a product like the Amsoil bypass system is of benefit as long as nothing goes sideways with the extra plumbing and filter such as a rupture/leak that could cause the oil to pump out of the engine ( yes that Versatile had a remote canister with hoses routed to it as well ). With the idiot egr system on a diesel and as a result forcing a lot more soot into the oil, that certainly isn't helping the diesel engines cause or as you pointed out the GDI engine issue with creating more soot and aside from having a fancy secondary filtering system, changing the oil more often helping lower the total soot load.     So oil manufacturing and the end product is not something one can control and I wonder if there are specs on what various oil packaging companies produce in particle count or size. As to the filtering, if the OEM is not designing a filter size and spec that is really what it could be, they too are short changing the end user and so what is the answer. Of course as you say the oil side can only do so much if the air side isn't keeping up its end of the picture and air filters are only so efficient and if in a dusty environment such as farm or construction or driving gravel roads there is a lot of dirt to filter out and some of that ends up into the air stream.    Of course the irony in places like where I am where they dump the salt on the highways but also will mix in some calcium or outright pure calcium for problem road area's, or using calcium as dust control on gravel roads, the vehicle that gets used in that environment may rust out before a properly engineered engine and maintenance finally wears out so one has to face that reality in the rust belt.
    • Has anyone run these on their 2500?
    • have you stuck with dealer oil changes since then? I made the same switch after getting tired of crawling around under the truck, but I’ve found some dealers are way better than others about getting you in quickly. Curious if yours has been good about scheduling or if you’ve had to look elsewhere for quicker turnaround.
    • Thank you.   I am set on a 3.0 Duramax as my previous truck with a Ford Ecoboost had just as many, if not more, "common" issues.  Cam phasers, timing chain issues, 10-speed valve body and CDF drum, emissions issues, etc.  So I figured, why not get 2x the fuel mileage (these things got 27+mpg on every mixed city/highway test drive I put them through) and better towing capability with resale value to boot?   My minimum, shortest trip will be 50 miles 1-way and I regularly go out of state with a travel trailer.  I'm planning on using this for a marketing/event promotion business also, which would require regular towing of trailers for bands, DJs, sound and lighting gear, along with my personal camera gear for filming events.   Looked at other trucks in the $30k+ price range but the issues seem to be everywhere, plus too many with gaudy mods.  I'm literally sticking with RWD trucks because they tend to be actually used as trucks, vs. the 4x4 models I've seen with unsafe lifts, huge tires, and general mods that would affect reliability (I'm wondering if some of them were tuned, hence the aggressive throttle response and hard shifting).   So my goal is to find a stock, 3.0 with 1 or 2 owners, in good physical condition, and decently well maintained.  Can't seem to find that up here, everything in the $27-30k range has had multiple owners, smoke smell, issues, or body damage.  Or the ridiculously modified trucks with 80k miles for under $27k but lots of problems...
