First time CEL! What's up with this?

I'm on the highway, 60-65mph. Decelerated by tapping brake, then moved back to accelerate. Transmission did the familiar thunk (lightly).

I looked at dash probably 30-60 seconds layer and the orange engine symbol was flashing. No other issues indicated on gauges (temp, oil pressure, etc.) and after about a minute it stopped. No perceptible run issues.

And y'all may note, I'm asking here before I call my dealer service Dept! 27964 miles on odo

Thanks

Flashing CEL means there was likely a Mis-fire situation happening. You could have some bad gas or a loose connector somewhere.

A flashing CEL is worse than a solid CEL though...sorry to say

Check your plug wires for good connection at the plug. There's a few trucks that have had poorly fitting wires. Easy fix with just pair of pliers.

Thx. Damn. I'm 50 miles out of town. In dress clothes. Not in my open-the-hood mode.

Push the Onstar button and ask what it was.

You can do that even if you weren't a subscriber?

No.

Correct. I made the rational decision that onstar had not much to offer. After talking to the "no we can't do diagnostic nor would we summons a wrecker" lady, I now confirm there's no emotional reason to have any interest in onstar either.

Got it home. No more light. 8am appointment at dealership. Not happy.

OnStar is a rip off. It's like $30/mo plus data if you want Wi-Fi.

If the light is flashing : A malfunction has been detected that could damage the emission control system and increase vehicle emissions. Diagnosis and service may be required.

To help prevent damage, reduce vehicle speed and avoid hard accelerations and uphill grades. If towing a trailer, reduce the amount of cargo being hauled as soon as possible.

If the light continues to flash, find a safe place to park. Turn the vehicle off and wait at least 10 seconds before restarting the engine. If the light is still flashing, follow the previous guidelines and see your dealer for service as soon as possible.

I am hoping I don't get there only to be told, "sir we can't duplicate the error. "

It stored the trouble code, so they should be able to find the issue(s).

Obviously that was the case. Bad injector. At the dealership, I'm in a loaner.

Any advice on what I need to consider/look for, or is this a routine replacement item at 28k miles?

Thanks BTW

This is pretty much the same way my CEL came on. My old code reader wouldn't work on this truck so I took it by a guy I know that has some "professional equipment". He pulled the code saying it was the #7 cylinder misfire. Long story short .... it went to the dealership and about 3 weeks later I had it back after they replaced the AFM lifters...
