Seatbelt recall, updated panel replacement.

Has anyone had this done yet? GM keeps nagging me to have this done and I'm not sure if it's absolutely needed. Just like the "peek in" recall, I never had this performed and everything works fine, no issues at all........ Thanks

Anything to do with a safety item I would have done right away. They don't issue recalls for fun...

Good point......like having a recall on the brakes even though they work good....thanks

The reason for the seat belt recall is the folding rubbery insert in the panel can fold backwards during pretensioner deployment and actually cause it to hang up, not allowing it to fully cinch. You need to have this one done. The new panel looks good and is cut well. When the recall first came out they were having all of us technicians cut the panel, but it was a disaster, so they released the panel to replace it.

I had this recall item done recently. The new panel looks good to me; in fact, I don't even notice it.

Seatbelts save lives. My old 97 C1500 was totaled when an errant driver turned into my path while traveling down a major boulevard. My wife and I were wearing our seatbelts and thankfully were not seriously injured.

Does the seat need to be removed or can it be done in place?
