You can use your phone as a hot spot and tell OnStart to shove it. I just figured out how to get it to connect to my phone's hot spot tonight and it works perfectly. Once my "trial" is over in 3 month, there is no way i'll pay what they want for that service.

You make the truck connect to your phone hot spot instead of vice-versa?

 

Does that make the phone signal use the truck antenna?

The phone is the hot spot so the phone antenna is the source.

OnStar is a waste of money IMO. Sure, I might think differently if I was in an accident or something. But for the amount of money it costs it's not worth it, nor have I ever seen any special offers (unlike with XM Radio, which regularly has special offers it seems as well as random "free trials.") I like the free basic service with OnStar for the 5 years or whatever it is after I purchased my truck, but even that I find I rarely use with the app on my phone.
