Exterior Speaker

I have been starting to think of how i want to play music while tailgating. One idea i had was setting up a marine speaker under the bed (or potentially in the tool box). i was going to set up a second battery and also connect that battery to the original to recharge. Has anyone seen any similar ideas to this?

Thanks

Yea, with Bluetooth speakers as an option it doesn't seem necessary to have to build an exterior system unless you want a pretty sweet cooler added to the mix like in the first link, but I'm sure you can find a cooler and bt speaker for less.

Or there's this...this is my tailgate speaker of choice, it pumps out loud clear music all day on 1 charge and mines 5 years old.

Jambox big sucks, hated that thing

Here's what I have, best bang for the buck bluetooth speaker on the market today. Look up reviews on youtube of it. Just crushes everything in SQ and volume.

Fyi the brand name aiwa was purchased by an american audio company , this is their first product. It's flat out amazing.

Anything you see from aiwa now = quality stuff

Yeah dude definitely get a bluetooth speaker, that way you have a tailgate stereo, a back yard stereo, a garage stereo, a bathroom stereo, and a sound bar for your TV all in one package. Yes it sounds pretty much sounds like an actual system.

I have an e30 bmw with a factory stereo, I just seatbelt that thing in the back seat when I take it out.

I already have a bluetooth speaker that's waterproof that i currently use. I'm just trying to make a more "permanent" set up that i dont have to remember to go charge or to bring. Im currently thinking of buying a slim speaker or two and mounting it in the tool box with either a bluetooth adapter or a head unit and connecting it to a smaller, separate battery which I'll set up to take charge while the truck is running. Thanks though guys!

All that stuff you want to do will be a couple hundred bucks. I'd just run some wiring to the bed and add a waterproof cig lighter port on the inside of the bed. Then you can leave it plugged in or use the port for other things.

Well if you really want to do a second separate setup it would be pretty cool. Here is what I would do.

Second battery - preferably matched to your existing battery

Second battery isolator - this keeps the battery from pulling juice from the battery running the truck but still allows it to charge with the stock system

separate head unit (marine grade) with remote and BT

two speakers (marine grade) - holes drilled into the tool box but I would also get speaker boxes for them to sit inside the box so the backs aren't just open into the tool box, this could affect sound quality as the box is metal as well as protect them from equipment being put in the box. Most boxes are diamond plated so I would also purchase some sort of insulation strip to put between the speaker and tool box.
