Issue with either a sensor or i am being paranoid

just a quick answer when i got to work I had a quarter of a tank, when I started it up this morning (remote start ran for 5min) i was sitting a hair above E with a 50mile DTE at time of fill up. Funny thing is fuel light came on when i was putting gas in truck (engine running as normal) and dte dropped to 35miles and fuel light came on) took 20.6 gal truck supposed to have a 26gal setup...

Try fueling the truck with the engine off next time? (disclaimer, you are supposed to have the engine off when fueling, its only on every warning label at gas stations). Key on or engine on the fuel sender float will be moving as the tank is being filled and may skew the readings in the truck causing it to think its filled sooner than it is.

I am guessing that the 5 min of warm-up and running while refueling has to do with cooling the car's interior. (I could not do this for environmental and safety reasons) 15HDriver's theory may be correct about the filling-up. I discovered the hard-way several years ago not to rely on low-fuel warning systems. I treat this information as an estimate and rarely ride on the bottom quarter of a tank.

Ya i leave the truck on most of the time only if i am moving it from the pump to store orni have my pup in there

Never noticed the problem i am having now

 

Maybe just maybe i was a little lower then what i was, but still at a quarter of a tank i should still be there not on E and truck was parked on somewhat level ground
