Aadams88 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 2014 LT silverado. Headlights will only turn off if it's in park. I'm tired of blinding people on the boat ramp. How can I make the actual off work on my knob?
Justin101714 Posted September 1, 2017 Posted September 1, 2017 Just keep turning the knob to left, it's sort of spring loaded. You can manually turn them off that way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk 3
royalkangaroo Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 Roll the dial left and it will spring back to auto. A message should appear on the dash screen saying auto lights off. Assuming you're loading/launching in the dark, maybe try turning your dial to parking lights. (Haven't tried this myself, but I'd assume the headlights would come off)
Mh167002 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 If your truck is or was Canadian, you are stuck with it unless you can get the BCM reprogrammed. My dealership said I would probably end up needing a new gauges cluster and all with a new BCM. I believe it's the law I Canada for lights to be on unless in park. I read on this forum or another where a member swapped pin connections with his parking/amber lights and I think that's what I'm going to do because they come on automatically at night with the headlights, so the only change will be that they stay on all the time and not the headlights. I really hate for them to be on all the time when I switch to HID's.
Frans14silver Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 I have a Canadian silverado and it sucks that I can't turn off the headlights! :/ you can turn them off while in park though, just turn the dial to the left like everyone says ;)
sdeeter19555 Posted September 2, 2017 Posted September 2, 2017 The Canadian trucks (if brought to the States) can have the lights turned "off"...it's a simple programming issue that can be done by the dealer, I had a Dodge 2500 from Canada with the Canadian version of DRLs, the dealer simply turned that off. Frans14silver Posted September 3, 2017 Posted September 3, 2017 Hmmm might have to visit a dealer soon lol
Steve R Posted October 21, 2020 Posted October 21, 2020 (edited) Tried turning off the main headlights during a heavy snowstorm because the headlights weren’t projecting far enough and were just “highlighting the falling snow directly in front of the truck, tried to turn them off to use fog Lights hoping it would be better to see. On a dark road with no street lights and heavy snowfall, i could barely see in frontof the truck. This is a problem as i live in Michigan and needs to be addressed. SOMEHOW. Practically blind!! still love the truck... just cant drive safely in snowstorms .... on a dark road .... at night! update: Chevy does not allow trucks manufactured for use in Canada to be reprogrammed or modified. Basically im stuck with it! Edited November 18, 2020 by Steve R Updated
