Paint Issue for 2017 Silverado?

I linex'd my rockers after I had paint chipping behind the rear tires after one weekend up north. Street tires to boot! The paint literally blew off exposing sheet steel

I also installed a weathertech bug deflector to protect the leading edge. The paint is piss poor on these trucks

That's crazy. My 2017 Sierra is holding up well so far but I am only at 4000 miles.

My 2003 Silverado still looked great when I sold it in 2014. GM should make this tight. That is not normal wear or abuse.

Hope they decide to do the right thing,

-S.

Traded off the Silverado today at 21,500 miles. I did not want to go through a 2nd winter here in PA with it.

Nothing positive to say about Lake Chevorlet, Inc., as they were terrible from the get go and their offer of a respray at half my cost was a joke.

I've only had to touch up one hood rock chip on my 16. My Ram had tons and tons of chips on the hood. (both trucks chrome bumpers/grills).

I do have a few new chips thanks to the guys who stole the wheels and tires at the dealership two weeks ago.

It had one small chip on the RF fender when I bought it but that you could see was where someone ran into it with something. On the whole my paint seems like it is holding up much better to micro scratches and chipping than my Ram.

Sounds like an adhesion issue with the guys who are experiencing huge amounts of chipping.

I call Southeast Michigan,  "Gravel Train City"!!   There are so many trucks slinging gravel on our roads, that it is ridiculas.  When im on a 3 lane,  I try to stay as far away as possible..  Two lane roads are the worst.  I try to stay far back from everyone now,  cars included.   Its amazing how this has cut down on my chips.  I wish that I had done this when the truck was new.  Even though the paint sucks,  you can somwhat aleviate the chip problem.  I plan on keeping this truck forever, so I should probably get the tape coating on the front end.  I think that im in the minority, as people who lease vehicles could care less about paint chips, or anything else on the vehicle.  They just figure that they will get another one in a few years,  so what.   Why should the car companys worry about paint,  These " Lease "   people far outnumber me or anyone else on this forum.  As long as GM is making record profits on cars and trucks,  get used to Paint Chips.  Just do whatever you can to stop them.

Because I purchased this truck at the dealer one of the so called benefits was they would wash it for the life of the vehicle, not a big deal, I prefer to wash it  by hand, but in the Winter it's great. So today I took the truck in had them run it thru their car wash, got it back home and was drying it off with a leaf blower before the water froze, and lo an behold I noticed a chip or like a perfect circle where the paint popped off. First I was like ok this  is just a rock chip, then I remembered a co worker telling me of some people complaining about paint issues so I thought I'd do a quick search on the internet and here we are....Now I know this is an old post 2017 and I'm driving a 2018 with only 8000 miles on it and I'm starting to see paint issues exactly like you have in your video.
