I have a happy update: GM came through and called me with a possible fix. I took them a month but at least it happened. The Dealer had to uninstall ALL the software on the truck and update all the operating systems for the HMI. After that the map installed but disabled the radio so they had to perform a global reset on the truck again. Everything works now. Total labor cost is 323.99 for a 99 dollar map update. 

I am not going to do this again, lesson learned.
