Krown undercoating

I brought my 6 month old 2017 GMC Sierra SLE to Krown today to get undercoated. They did an excellent job with spraying the product on the underside of the truck, inside the door panels, tailgate and any other little crevices they can get at.

I've been taking my vehicles to Krown for years and have had excellent results. No rust underneath and the no electrical problems.

My previous vehicle was a 2008 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel. When I traded it in for my Sierra it looked excellent for its age. No rust on the body or undercarriage. The Krown did what it was supposed to do.

A side note though is I also regularly took my vehicles to the coin car wash to spray them clean of road dirt and salt during the nasty winter months.

Word of warning though about going to Krown. Not all are the same. Years ago I had a diesel Jetta and had brought it to another Krown and they did a terrible job. They didn't spray a lot of areas on the underside. And they charged me more money (5 yrs ago) for the Jetta than I paid today for my truck !!

Another tip I have for anyone bringing their truck to get undercoated is to drop and remove your spare tire before going. That way they can spray the area where your spare would normally cover. I noticed a few electronic modules back there. It would be good for those to start corroding.

Krown charged me $120 cash. It would have been $130 plus tax if I paid with debit or VISA. My price of $120 will also be locked at $120 in the future too.

Ive had my last 3 GM trucks done at Krown dealer with good results the one thing my guy does is remove the tailites and spray the inside of the box over the wheelwells Never had a rust issue there

Just bought a 2017 and will take it to krown within the next few weeks. OP did you take out your fender liners too? Thinking it'd be hard to get up around the fenders with them in?

Leave the wheel well liners in. They're a bitch to remove them due to all the fasteners and don't give you access to the seam where the bed meets the body panel. The area above the wheel well where they like to rust can be accessed from the tail light or contorting yourself from underneath the truck.

No I didn't remove the fender liners.

I never thought about removing them. Not sure how they come off. But that's a good idea to remove them before bringing it in.

If anyone can let me know how the wheelwell liners come out I may take them out. If I see that the wheelwells aren't protected I'll get some LPS 3 and spray that area down.

I just touch up w/ the Daubert chemical wax stuff in a spray can around this time of year - early/mid fall during a dry stretch of a week or 2 - bring it to a local mechanic I go to put up on lift & spray anything that looks like the coating is light or bare metal/rust is spotted.

I did spray all 4 of my Bilstein leveling shocks w/ some spray can clear coat before installing & while they're certainly not shiny - they're not rusted either (the billys are housed in 400 series stainless tubing)

I've heard of Krown coating though alot of the guys I do business w/ in upstate NY swear by it.
