2005 1500HD 4wd issue

Ok guys new here and this has stumped everyone that I have had look at my truck so here it goes.

2005 Silverado 1500HD 4wd Crewcab with a 246 transfer case

 

Issue: front tires will not pull in 4wd under a load

 

In 4wd high and low the front wheels will not pull, however when up in the air front wheels will turn.

no lights or service 4wd notice. When up in the air in 4wd and in park I can turn the front driveshaft with my hand and the front wheels turn.

 

i pulled front actuator it moves in and out as should, encoder shift motor appears to be working when I put in 4 low and drive on asphalt you can tell the truck in in low gear.

 

any recommendations? I don't wanna snatch the transfer case if it's possibly something else.

Jack all 4 tires up and put it in 4x4 and neutral and spin the front drive shaft, and see if the rear one spins, my bet is it's something inside of the transfer case

Yeah, your statement where in 4wd, transmission in park and you can spin the front axle, that means something isn't right in the transfer case.  Might be something simple like the chain broke...

Sounds like transfer case. Junk yard.
