Assembled in Mexico means assembled during siesta, lots of problems accompany stuff made in Mexico.  For instance remember all the cluster problems GM had from 2003 to 2007 in their trucks, made in Mexico all of them.  All the Escalade clusters were made in China, same cluster and I see one of those for repair once in a blue moon.  2 actually in 7 years.  They just don't have the quality control and expertise.

And then there's that "manana" factor.

I'm not sure if you are speaking tongue 'n cheek but I am aware some people actually believe such misinformation.    GM assembly plants are not autonomous facilities setting their own standards or sourcing their own components.

For every GMC sold, 3 Silverado's are sold.  So they out number the GMC 3.1 and that likely skews the results.

Since the siverados and sierras are built in the same plant, on the same line, by the same people, the location of the plant has jack to do with with chev vs gmc quality complaints.

Okay, I know for a fact Mexican built electronics are very bad.  The only reason Sony and LG pulled out of Mexico.  GM vehicles are now mostly electronic and why most parts manufactured in Mexico fail . Assembly might be close to par but the rest isn't.  My Trax is 99.9% manufactured outside Mexico but assembled in in Mexico.  Still found missing screws and missing push clips here and there.

Could it be the suspension on the denalis bringing it down? The only thing I can think of

This is exactly what I was saying..how could one be better then the other? Same truck different grills and little bit of interior.

They're likely going on customer complaint records in response to survey or complaints to some agency.

2) Maybe GMC owners whine more.

This.  We paid a little more (not much) for our "professional grade" trucks and I think if the expectations are higher, the complaints will be higher.

Consumer Reports typically rates Sierra 1500's and Sierra 1500's the same.  I've owned 4 Sierras and 1 Silverado.  When looking for a GM truck, I pick the truck that has the best price for the features I prefer.  The Sierra has won me over more often than the Silverado.  They are the same trucks with some cosmetic differences creating some variations in pricing.

When I wanted to buy an OEM part for my 93 Silverado I went to the GMC dealer that was close to me.

My dad drove trucks all his life and always GM. He used to say a GMC was a Chevrolet with lock washers. He still holds the record for the longest run on a 366 10 wheeler which I believe was 265000+ miles on a gas engine. He blew it on the tower hill in Maine on route 9.
