2014 Silverado I purchased in late August with 61,000 miles have drove it 6,000 miles with NO issues till last night. Started up the truck, put into gear and started rolling when the steering assist disable alert came on for a split second then went out (truck has had current recall performed). Drove about 5 miles up the road with out any other issues to get gas. Pulling out of the gas station the headlights and dash lights flashed and the HVAC went to A/C mode on, didn’t think much about it just turned off the A/C and proceeded to drive back home. On the way home in traffic I noticed as I applied the brakes my headlights and dash lights would flash. As I turned on my turn signal to pull into my driveway the whole vehicle died!!! Engine shit off and it was just as if you climbed into a vehicle with absolutely no battery at all everything was dead. Fought the steering into the driveway, put it in neutral turned the key off then to crank, started up just like nothing ever happened. The display said theft deterrent active, 2 keys programmed, then something about the drivers window being down?!?!? Living across the street from where I bought this I went straight over and told them there was an “issue” I explained everything that happened and when they hooked up the code reader the only code was for the right headlight circuit. I left it there for them to look at because I felt unsafe driving it. They called me today wanting to know how often this had happened and i explained i had just bought it and it was the first time for me. They said ok thanks for the info, a few hours later they called and said that the only abnormality they could find was that the negative battery cable was showing excessive resistance. I told them that it has to be fixed and they said ok we will order the cable and then they told me that after the cable $100 plus labor and then the diagnostics that my bill would be around $430. I said $430 and it would be fixed? They replied that they couldn’t guarantee that because they wasn’t 100% sure that was/is the problem. Has anyone else experienced anything like this??

Do both battery cables. Have the battery load tested and make sure it’s state of health isn’t now. Should fix you up.

Has anyone with these electrical issues tried looking at this connection ? Drop your plastic skid plate thingy and it's right there. It comes right from the battery, (both negative and positive) and goes to the ECM. I just did mine today. It had a mild to heavy white frosting on both the blades. I took emery cloth and cleaned them, then applied dielectric grease. Have to wait and see what happens.

I had this problem when temperatures reached 90 degrees and a/c was cranking while making a left turn. Truck shut off. Truck was under warranty. Brought it to dealer 3 times they could not repeat the issue. On the3rd time , days after the warranty expired, they said they found the problem and billed me for it. They said it was a loose ground wire under the radio speaker left top of dash board. Problem went away for 5 years now seems like its coming back again

Almost 4 weeks now since the 2 repairs I did, (pictured above and negative ground on frame) the truck is running very good so far. My problem was one or the other or both. I had all the same problems in previous posts.

My buddies 05 Colorado has the same issue. Driving down the road and it just dies. Climb under the front end and smack the crossmember with a hammer and it runs again. Has to be that connection in the pics above.

All good advice. Battery, Battery cables and google G218 Ground point which is the ne under the dash speaker.

Our 2014's were quite glitchy. They are not designed for non mechanically inclined people 🙂
