We'll have had ongoing issues with my 2014 Sierra tranny including a new bell housing because the old one was leaking( never anything on ground just noticed 2 drops of fluid on inspection cap on the bottom side of tranny).  When I finally got that resolved got the truck back and had what was like a screeching sound or metal metallic  sound periodically when it would downshift or upshift into third gear so back to the dealership it went.  Got the call this morning new tranny is here and getting installed. ?  Anybody ever had a reconditioned tranny from gm?  Do they come with a warranty?  Do they last?  Thank god for the 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty!

I bought a reconditioned trany  for my 93 Silverado from a local dealer.

4L60

The difference was the GM had a 3 year, 36 k mile warranty. All others,1 year, 12 k mile warranty.

When a trany is rebuilt they replace clutches, seals, for the most part. AAmco is a good example. To R&R my 93 trans was $2k with a 1 year, 12 k mile warranty. If the pumps or any other parts were bad upon tear down, add those parts cost to the bill.

GM techs check all parts and replace anything that doesn't meet spec's.

My 4l60 was $1900 and I installed it. Still got the warranty.

Shifted better than the original.

I would do it again if i need a trany rather than AAmco or other company.

The GM SRTA units carry a 3 year/100k mile warranty.  They have all the latest updated parts installed in them and the warranty is valid at any GM dealer if you have any issues down the road.  However, looking at the catalog, if you have a 5.3 non NHT, they only do new transmissions for those.  5.3 with NHT its a reman, 4.3 gets a reman, and 6.2 non NHT is new.  What are the specs on your truck?

That stinks!  I have 120,000 HARD miles on my '15 NHT and haven't had one single issue.  It tows heavy, hauls heavy, gets driven hard, and still comes back for more.  I am currently knocking on my wooden desk...just in case.  Just sounds like you got a fluke and should be if they repair or replace it with another.

Haven't seen any major tranny issues posted on here for the 14+ models.. any other issues you've noticed with your truck?

Just a couple of the common ones everyone talks about....leaf spring noise, needed a new radiator and thermostat due to a cracked leaking radiator.

Well, I would try not to worry about it too much then.  Look on the bright side, you have a new tranny!  Break it in nicely.  Do they have any theories as to what caused the failure?

had burnt up clutch on 3rd gear with little to no fibers left on it  and 4,5,6 all showed signs of major heat stress and scarring.  that is what they found out when they had torn it down.  my guess is something wasn't getting enough fluid...
