285/70/17 KO2 - Stock or do i need level?

so everything seems like its going to go through with my new tires going on monday finally... long story short i have lifetime warranty on tires but can pay to upgrade and im finally at that wear point and have had the truck since new in 14.

im keeping my stock 17s on it and want to run 285/70/17s, a good friend who is a tire guy says to get the K02 over the duratrac, and my dealership says the same but they are also slightly cheaper for my cost.

 

so, i have the RC 2.5" leveling kit but havent put it in yet will i be able to clear the 286/70/17 on stock height or do i need the leveling kit? 

my plan has always been to only put the 2" font and 2" rear in so i keep a bit of a rake and not nose up or completely level so when i tow i will still ride ok.

On my Stock 2014 with 20 inch rims that had a stock 285 the KO2's rubbed the Duratrac's didn't.

 

You really don't know until you try them.. I knew the shop foreman where I did my tires though and he had stock on both so was willing to test fit one.

I believe the stock 17s/18s will stick out further since they have a lower offset than the stock 20s.  I think it's +24mm for 17s/18s and +27mm for 20s.

I'm leveled 1.5" in the front with a 0 offset wheel, and I have zero rubbing.  285/70/17 BFG KO2.

285/70/17 is almost the same size as 285/65r18 and there are many people running that size on stock 2014+ suspension with stock rims.   It's only a 32.7x11.2 tire.     

 

Would look better with the level though....get that body away from the tire so you can see them better.    And yes, put the taller block in the rear to keep a little rake.   Leveled trucks with no rear block look awful IMO.   Put any weight in the back of a "leveled" truck and it looks Cali (nose high).

so i got my tires sorted out and as much as i thought i was going to go with the KO2 i ended up ordering the duratracs... the KO2 was a little cheaper ($30 a tire) but i dont think they look as good IMO and i have 3 friends running duratracs and they all love them...awesome tread wear, grip and go in the snow.

 

im trying to get a shop to do the install for me, the shop i wanted to do it which my office shares a parking lot with is backed up for 2 weeks so thats out for now...i have another 1 im going to try to get into tomorrow, we will see how it goes.

Lucky you. I have a 3” coilover level and my right wheel rubs the mud flap reversing right. Same size tires and offset

You have mudflaps behind front wheels?

 

I'm about to add my mudflaps to the rear again as I'm about to rotate my tires for the first time.

 

I still planned on zip-tieing for more clearance, but i have at least 1-2" clearance all the way around.

Yeah front wheels. Right front wheel rubs on the inside corner of the flap/the fender liner. I haven’t gotten around to trimming It off. It doesn’t seem like a critical part of the mud flap. And I need to zip tie the fender liner again, seems like the original one loosened up. I do have a higher caster than normal to bring my camber closer to zero. Unfortunately my control arm cams are maxed out with cognito UCAs.

Never had a problem with the rears.

so i got the duratracs on, lift/level didnt happen...the installer didnt have time.. no0 worries the tires just clear!!

if it flexes at all it will rub a little but im ok with normal driving.

the stock 17" aluminum wheels i have actually are a perfect offset for the look i wanted so ive decided to just keep them, i have them plastidipped black but ill get them powdercoated next summer.

took the truck through some ATV trails the last couple days and barely needed 4x4, only popped it in 4x4 when i had to back out of the mud and was sitting on the runningboards, these tires are awesome!!

ive lost about 2.5L/100km on the highway, which isnt bad and was expected.

i still have my leveling kit that will get installed.... eventually....but they fit stock height so im ok for now.

here is a pic of the front tire...ya i want it a bit higher but not just the front, i want both front and rear up 2 inches.
