Chewed on wiring

Hey all,

I just recently bought a 2000 GMC Yukon XL. I noticed that there is some wiring that has been chewed on in the engine compartment, just wondering what is the best way of fixing it and maybe what the wiring is controlling. I included a couple of pictures, any help is greatly appreciated.

I think it's fuel injector, EGR, and Spark.   Looks like rats.

The "best way" would be to replace the harness.  But that's cost prohibitive from my quick look into a new harness.  Second option would be to find a good automotive electrical shop and have them splice all the damaged wires, assuming you don't want to do it yourself or don't have the skills.

If it runs without any problems try this, easy.

We had a Jeep that was kept at our mountain get away house for a backup vehicle.

Rabbits got to the wires.

I would open the hood to put the battery in it for use and a rabbit would be staring at me and then take off.

The wires with missing insulation I put liquid electrical tape on them.

Never had a problem.

I don't mind doing the work. I wasn't sure if there was a more "proper" way of fixing it other than doing a butt splice. I am sure a wiring harness would be the best fix but they are costly. I would probably also use some heat shrink tubing to make it water resistant. The vehicle does run, but I want to get it fixed as quickly as possible. Thanks for the advice, I will get some extra wiring and splices and get it put back together. Next will be figuring out why the 4 wheel drive fuse blows periodically.

Thanks
