Upgraded my console USB ports

So, my alpine unit doesn't use the factory usb ports, and I am not happy with the half amp output they have. So I've upgraded the ports to 2 2.4amp ports and a quickcharge 3.0 port. Now I can charge from these usb ports like they were actually meant to be used.

They are not functional as data ports. Only charge ports. Also I know, its really dusty.

I like this. I also like having the 120 port. Wonder if this could be done on the other two outlets?

I didn't get that option. But I'm sure you could upgrade the one in the console.

Doing some googling on upgrading the usb ports and came across this old post. 

Anyone have any info on this? How it was done??  I like how the OP never told how he did it.

Seems like you could buy this part:

GM (13581217)

 

and replace the usb port guts with 3.0 versions from something like this:

or, see if you could use this to connect to the back of the GM part, and direct wire to fuse pannel, to supply the power to the USB hub in the GM part:
