I think most vinyl wraps are quite thin and offer little to no protection against rock chips. it's usually more of a cosmetic product instead of paint protection. Maybe the product your looking at is different and is specifically designed  for this type of application. have you considered clear paint protection (either 3M, expel, proskin)?

The materials used is from 3M. The same place also offers the clear one but since there's already some chips in the paint I thought it would be better to hide it.

The 3m clear stuff is specifically designed to offer rock chip protection, it's thicker 6mil.  The 3m vinyl wrap they make in various colors only has a 3.5mil thickness as far as I know.
