40 series flowmasters

Hi i have a flowmaster 40 series on my 5.3 and I’ve got use to the sound is there anyway I could make it just a bit louder?

Still got the resonator on it? If so remove it. If it’s gone already some guys claim if you remove the third catalytic converter decibels go up? If neither of these make it loud enuff for you your probably looking at a muffler swap either a super 44 or a super 10.

Yeah resonator is gone. Which one is louder the 44 or 10?

From my understanding the 10 is "louder" and the 44 is deeper in tone, although still loud.

Last question lol. If I remove that 3rd cat will it throw a check engine light? Thanks for the help.

@Deadboy1214 I don't believe the last cat is monitored, just the first two. I'll wait for someone to correct me.

From what I’ve read on here the 3rd cat is only there to meet California emissions standards. Apparently GM said F it and now we all get Cali standard emissions? The O2 sensors are in front of the 3rd cat so it won’t throw any codes if you remove it. If you have any powertrain warranty left and you remove it your dealer could possibly deny any future claims since your altering the emissions system. If your planning on having a shop remove it you might also run into some opposition. Also if your state has any kind of emissions testing you could be running a risk of a fine if they catch it? I’m sure if you read though this post somebody will have the answer as to how much louder it gets with the cat removed and whether it’s worth it or not.

I couldn’t remember been along time since I needed to know. I got old I’m running a 50 on my CC...
