Lawn Mowing

Well my 25 year old Cub Cadet 1250 hydrostat has been retired. I went out and bought an Exmark Lazer Z HP 48 inch cut Zero turn mower. Let me tell you that if you have anywhere near 2 acres of lawn to mow then this is the mower for you. I can cut the yard in half the time it took me in on the cub and it has a 50 inch deck on it. There is no comparison. I cut right through the thickest grass with ease. Let me say that when you get up to 18,500 fpm (feet per minute) blade tip speed that it will throw grass for a mile. The 21 HP Kawasaki twin engine never once chugged it just purred along no matter what I thru at it.

Oh and the zero turn part. It is a blast to drive. No more wide turn radius turns to get around something and all that forward, backup, forward, backup stuff is gone. Heck the lawn looks like a major league base ball field, all striped out.

My wife came out the day I got it and looked at me just shaking her head. I know this sounds crazy but untill the newness wears off, I can't wait for the grass to grow so I can get back on it and fly around the yard. :D

I spent a long time online looking at all the different brands, Scag, Gravely, Hustler, Dixie Chopper, Ferris and this was the best bang for the buck, not to mention 0% financeing, 0 down and 0 payments till April helped. Free micro mulch kit and the closest dealer gave me the best price and service. I must have checked out 20 other dealers in a 100 mile radius. What did we do before the internet?????

So the Cub is sitting on E-bay right now with three bids on it. Just wonder how much it will go for?

Is it time to mow yet? :smash:

We used Scag's and Lesco equipment(basically Scag's with Lesco's name on them) when I was working in the green industry. A lot of the components on the machines are almost standard. I'd love to have a ZTR even though I don't have a huge lot...just several to cut. It's all a matter of doing your homework and going where the deal and service are, and it sounds like you did.

Starting to look at brush mowers to pull behind the Farmall here. Mainly just to have but also to help mow my grandma's couple of acres and my cousins have another 60 acres.

Paco, you were interested in landscaping and such. If you do go that route and get into the mowing part. Go to one of the zero turn radius dealers up there and ask to demo one. You will be amazed at how fast and easy it makes cutting grass.

There is an Exmark dealer up there in Durham. I called them for a price and they were average with the rest, just the 90 miles away kind of got to me for service but if they would have gave me a good deal I would have gone up there to get it.
