Looking at buying a 2016 Silverado LT Z71 All Star package

I think its high.  I paid $37,500 out the door for my 2017 LT Allstar 4x4 CC back in June, brand new.  Only difference between it, and the one you are looking at is the heated seats/leather.  You're only a few of hours away from where I am.  Check out Terry Labonte Chevrolet in Greensboro.  They are a high volume dealer, so they are usually priced reasonable.

Thats right there for 2016 with those options when I was looking if i would have seen your truck it would be a great contender , maybe would have pulled the trigger ! but watching prices like someone said earlier 2015 with less miles could be found at $25,000 to $ 28,000 , my friend got one for $30,000 2015 LTZ Z71 mint with 10000 mi , leveled and a headache rack ,forest green , looks better than my 2017 the ride is the same !   good luck there are good deals  out there especially if your willing to travel ,

Man, go to love Chevrolet in Columbia. Those guys wanna get rid of their inventory. With that 2.9 your getting you can probably get brand new for a reasonable monthly payment. I got a fully loaded 17 slt for 12k off the sticker mid August. I love my truck!! Used is cool but with all that can wrong on these newer trucks I wouldn’t wanna chance it!! Btw I hv stone blue, cold color.

Seems too high.  I bought a 2016 1500 4x4 with 5,400 miles on it in Nov. of '16.  It spec'ed out to $47k, and I paid $31.  not a single scratch or dent.

I agree, price is too high, especially for a private sale.  My buddy got is 2016 Crew Cab LTZ for $37K brand new.  I got my 2014 dbl cab LT Z71 for less than $32k brand new.  You can get a 2018 LT Z71 CC brand new off the lot for mid-30's if you shop around.  I wouldn't pay over $28k for it myself.

You're getting some great advice here.  With this information,  I'd check this truck out and if it is flawless set $30 K as your highest offer.  Anything above this price puts you into new vehicle pricing. Also, a base model new truck has more value to me than a used higher trim level version.

Decided to go with a new truck... Getting ready to start the process next week. Thanks for any advice.

OP, how much more would it be worth to you to get a new one? A nationwide search on Cars.com yielded several similar optioned higher MSRP trucks at list prices under $40K. Leather in an LT does limit those available but I did see a blue one with leather under $40K. You could get one with cloth and have leather installed. Interest rates are often lower on new, so you could have leather put in with the savings difference over the term of a loan, assuming you are borrowing.

Looking at the front plate, is this a small independent dealer? If so, what's the back story on how they got it? A vibrator from auction? You would have a bit of 3/36 warranty left but not much. At that price and if not buying new I'd rather buy a CPO and have extended warranty.

Just my $.02

buy without leather if you have too and add catskinz in for less than what the leather upgrade costs, and better leather too

I agree that leather should not be a deciding factor.  I like my leather seats but they played a very small part on the selection process.  I like them for the same reason that I use to prefer vinyl seats when cloth was the luxury option!  They are easy to clean when you have a dog!

My truck was an "allstar" truck, but it's 2wd. It has most of the basics and I have been fine with it. I did wind up spilling something on the seat though recently. We managed to get it out (it was grape jelly.. don't ask..)  with some scrubbing, but it has made me wish for leather.

My opinion, and this is what I'm doing (I'm talking to a shop now actually) is that if you are unhappy with the cloth after having it for a while, katskinz are very high quality and can be had for $2500 or less installed. They are at least as good as stock leather (I've seen a few trucks with it. One of the dealers in my area would put katskinz on used trucks rather than try to clean stained cloth seats) and can be customized if you like a different look better.

Also, to add to it, that price seems on par with what I have seen for used z71 trucks. The only thing I would look out for is the "shakes" that they sometimes have when its warm out at stop lights, and, a whine from the differential at highway speeds.

You can find the Katzkin leather on ebay for about $700. You can install it yourself or take it to a upholstery shop to have it installed. Shouldn't run you much. In the end you'll probably save over 1k.
